Description
I created this stand for a fellow artist as a custom item to perfectly fit his pocket watch.Designed to look like melting wax, each drip I have hand carved from a piece of recycled black walnut.
Standing approximately 20cm high, this stand perfectly holds the pocket watch with a rebated section to accommodate the watch chain.
The whole item has been thoroughly hand sanded and finished with a gloss lacquer.

interesting concept and probably gave you one hell of a headache. dunno if i'd want that in my living room though. ah well, to each his own. :3
as an art student who abhors 3D work just for the sheer fact it's HARD, i give you kudos. i would probably punch a wall trying to get WOOD to look like WAX. and you did it well enough that i wasn't certain it wasn't wax until i looked at the artist comment. i tip my hat to you.

I just LOVE the amount of details you put into it. How there's even a ledge to fit the chain perfect! And the form, it's so elegant. I normally have a distaste for melting stuff but this is so graceful! I love how most of the weight is on one side while the other side have two legs for support! It's wonderful.

I love the melting effects of this. Wonderful display of carving skill! I also really like that, though I know it's wood, at first glance the shades in it and the high polish you gave it make it look like a huge hunk of Tiger's Eye. Simply gorgeous!
