In this scene, Mayor Charles Phlegmming (as Mayor Larry Vaughn) and Foghorn Leghorn (as Meadows) persuade John Smith (as Chief Martin Brody) to reconsider closing the beaches due to fearing that the town's summer economy will suffer since the 4th of July is coming up and to say that what happened to Lindsay (as Chrissie Watkins) was a boating accident.
