I won't critique this work for my expertise lie only in writing, crochet, and little else... but this piece absolutely speaks to some primal urge within to save this man both sexually and emotionally. I'm not sure he even requires saving but I want to reach out to him and feel him... this is absolutely stunning both conceptually and visually. Many define art as something that promotes an emotional movement that is more drastic than the every day emotional ups and downs... this is by far one of the most emotionally moving pieces I've seen in the past five years and even spoke to some physical urges. Thank you for sharing with us!

Thank you, very much! It's incredibly gratifying to get more than a one or two word response to a drawing, and this is perhaps the most open and honest comment I've ever received.

Just out of idle curiosity-- In your opinion, would an explanation of what was on my mind when I was drawing this enhance or detract from the piece?

Honestly, I do think most of us want to know what the artist was thinking when they created our favorite pieces but sometimes the story behind it is a let down. Our curiosity tends to kill whatever the piece meant to us as the interpreter. This of course is simply my opinion but I find with most things as soon as I know the perspective of the artist I find my view of the work changes drastically. Sometimes the change is fantastic, eye opening, soul inspiring but other times its a complete disappointment for one reason or another. My opinion however has nothing to do with what exactly you wanted to portray with this piece or any other. Sometimes, we need to tell the story because that was the goal to begin with. Other times we simply feel the need to share a part of ourselves in our creation because we don't have any desire or know how to tell the story and the work does it for us. It boils down to what you wanted to accomplish with this piece and whether or not it was meant for you personally or meant to inspire, heal, hurt, educate others.

Well stated, thanks again for your honesty. I rarely, if ever, put explanations beneath my work...I think it's important that the viewer draws their own interpretation, without the artist imposing their feelings about it. I was just curious how others felt.

Holy crap that's a striking image. Gorgeous detail - love the hands, the tendons in the neck and the hint of collarbone... and then there's the flower with its slithering little tentacles. Brilliant work. Kudos to you.

Nicely done. The hands are particularly good, including the veins. The tendrils, dripping blood, and especially the cascade of falling leaves take it to the next level, so to speak!

I don't have enough for a proper critique, but I'd like to share that I love the piece. Great layering, excellent image, strong emotion. If I may, the petals near the bottom seem to look a little flat (could be just my internet/computer/monitor) & the lines of folded skin strike me a little inorganic (perhapse the folds closest to the opening should be slightly curved). Both very minor things, overall it's excellent. Again, I love this piece & your other work as well, this is just my humble opinion for what it's worth. Keep rockin' it!
