Description
Set, who murdered his brother Osiris, also saves the Sungod Re from the chaos serpent Apep. This unusual event occurs in the seventh hour of Re's trip through the underworld, or Duat. If Set does not succeed in defeating Apep, the entire cosmos--even the gods themselves--will be dissolved back into primordial chaos.18 X 24", watercolor and a teeny bit of gouache.

No actually. Β Seth is defending the Sungod Re, who does rule the universe. Β Apep wants to destroy it, and in doing so will send all of creation, including the gods themselves, into chaos. Β The ancient Egyptians were very uncomfortable about the idea of Set playing such a role in the Amduat, but there he is. Β Remember that at this point in Egyptian history, Set was in favor (as in Pharaoh Seti.)

Beautiful! The colour is amazing and I like the way you used highlights.

Wow, great job with the texture of scales! The underbelly color is a nice touch as well, giving it a sort of glowing quality.
Love the shading as well, nice and dark enough without it overpowering the rest of the base colors.
