Again, no I have not got a barnyard fetish, if that's what your thinking. This a commissioned work for my boss. The brief was to design an image for a hen-night t-shirt. It had to be a classic pin-up pose, bikini-clad... cartoon chicken! Yeah I know an over used visual pun, soooo not my idea. I'm more of an appreciator of the human female form. The upside was that I had to do research into classic pin-up poses, and no I'm not a letch or a perv, (well no more than most hetro men with a pulse).

On completion of "chick", my boss then turned round and said that she looked a bit of a "slut", not cute, and not simple enough. Now he tells me!!! So back to the drawing board (literally). This is the result, not my finest work, I'm not happy with it, but it completes the commission. I have more problems with this project than you can shake a small tree at never mind a stick.

Pros:
1) It's a paying job
2) I made my boss wait about 6 months for this
3) My work will be known in the local area (if the t-shirts sell)
4) Since I am being paid per t-shirt sold I still have a say how the image is used
5) erm... that's all I got

Cons:
1) The t-shirt that I insisted that I got paid by how many got sold, (well six months is long time), will not sell because of the subject
2) It's an overused visual pun, and not a good one
3) Chickens aren't sexy, and if you think they are you need serious help. Men find women's face, breasts, legs, feet, and shape sexy. A chicken has a sharp beak, comb, wattle. Their knees bend the opposite to ours, (descended from dinosaurs), their feet are taloned and splayed out, (a bit like a raptor). And their shape is a fat lump with feathers. They go well cooked for 2 hours with roast potatoes and their foetuses go well with toast, sausages, beans, or as an omelette, but for me that is where the attraction stops.
4) Nobody goes on a hen-night or bachelorette party in a bikini. Most ladies tend to dress up or go out looking smart and attractive
5) They won't sell
6) If they do sell, the customers will want them specific to them, which means landing more work at my door which I don't need right now.
7) If I did a caricature of a generic sexy lady in the style of Rion Vernon, then they would sell. If I put them as a St Trinians schoolgirl, naughty nun/nurse/policewoman, cat-suited dominatrix then they would sell even more.
8) Nigel, the sentient shade of blue I adopted while constructing The Uninvited House Guest v2.0 who shares my padded cell, won't come near me. The only sentient colour known to human kind and it has a phobia of chickens, just my luck.
9) It's weird looking... damn it!

Okay maybe not a small tree, possibly a medium stick. But I'm still not proud of this one. I might add the shading, shadows, and hight-lights sometime in the future (when I've over-dosed on my meds).

Pencil, paper, scanner, contents of Ipod nano, Mac, Waccom Intuos3 A3 tablet, Photoshop CS3, TMNT, Next, Munchausen (1943), Depeche Mode's - Violator, Playing the Angel, 16 Volt - FullBlackHabbit, Primal combat soundtrack, and several packs of Oreos.

I have got very good at not being me, but sometimes I have been myself... they have yet to find the bodies.
