Description
again an old picture, from a year back. I don't have a fancy 3-d package so I was forced to settle for a simple freeware program called blender which has its maaaany drawbacks(such as no booleans or reflections). But well here is my first attempt at modeling something semi-realistic, my computer desktop!Related content

ok... did you actually MAKE the whole thing? if you did.... HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO IT! I know I am young and only in middle school, but this stuff interests me. I currently working on simple sketching and stuff... but the 3-d digital art is getting very popular during this time period. Also animation and such. I guess you went to college (if thats how you spell it) to be very great at art huh? Very magnificent.

Wow. And hard to believe your "live" art is even better.

No booleans or reflections??? WTF? It does have both of those.
Nice render, though.

Hmmm - it seems like you got around any inadequacies of the moment.
I teach 3D graphics using Blender. I used to teach using Maxon Cinema4D 9.5 but I ditched it in favour of Blender 2.45 this year for two reasons. Firstly, Blender has all the features that my students required - even including a complete bones and animation system and secondly, it's freely available so students don't have to fork out for expensive software (or resort to piracy).
Blender is a very impressive package these days and if you can just get past the interface learning curve (which you clearly must have done) then it's a joy to use. The built in ray-tracing engine is very good and the integration with an external engine called Yafray produces some excellent results. It certainly has great boolean support and reflections are a part of the ray-tracing engine.
In all honesty I prefer working in Blender now to Cinema4D. The interface really lends itself to a fluid workflow.

I love this. It looks really good. I'm learning to get to grips with Blender at the moment since I am currently using it as part of my course. It's not too bad once you get the hang of it.

Well, I just started last year with Photoshop and know nothing about '3-D' but this looks pretty realistic to me.

Two years does wonders for a program. Blender's boolean functions aren't great but they at least exist as far as I can tell now, and if you pair it up with the Yafray render engine it does quite nice raytracing for all those shiny effects. It's slowly but surely growing up.

And check out the galleries. It's not uber-professional stuff mostly, but a lot of it can give a good impression of what it's capable of anymore. I've been using Blender off & on since it was a Linux-only program about 7 years ago, and I can definitely see a difference in usability and performance over the years.

Lovely idea! ^^
And I think you really managed create something with that program (is lost as always XD)
If I should give you my opinion, I don't think the loss of highlighs is a loss... It actually helps to create a nice atmosphere to your desktop ^^

excellent...blender is a terrible program but you made it better...i couldn't have made this in c4d...but you made it in blender!!! excellent...maybe if you get a more in depth program...you'll be an unstopable force...

I trully congratulate you, specially because I know the drag that Blender is.
I love the concept of iteration on this composition. I would be glad to help you if you care for adding human characters, or any organical object to that scene.
Excelent.
I would advise... realism is good... but add something entirely un-real, impossible in this world, and it will be unique.
