A little something I animated and my lovely girlfriend colored. Not too hot on how the gif compression crummified the image quality, but beggars can't be choosers.. His name is Clyde.For no apparent reason, someone decided to rip this character.. all they did was change the head and colored it differently. The changes were just enough to keep it from being removed by the admins. When I asked that person about it, he said he'd remove it from DA, which he did, two months later.. then it showed up in his gallery at a different *coughsheezycough* website. Nice, huh?
PLEASE, PLEASE... NO RIPPING!

Just wondering, how long does it usually take you to make something like this? I've been thinking about learning animation, but I think I draw kinda...slow.

I really can't say how long this took me because I was working on it off and on, putting in an hour here and there.. But I WILL tell you that there's a lot of work involved with animation, and if you're doing 2d animation, it certainly helps if you draw quickly.. Fortunately there's ways to learn how to draw quicker, being more ecenomic with your lines, and getting the heart of the pose in a matter of seconds.. If you're dedicated enough, you'll overcome the speed issue.

It's not so much being fast as being "economical" with your lines. Using as few lines as possible to define the character without losing the essence of what "makes" it that character.. In short, simplify.

I see what you mean about the compression. The arms are all jagged-ed on the edges. But I think it's very cute.
