Description
● GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Grey Cartwright
Nickname(s): n/a for now
Gender: Female (She/Her)
Age: 22
Shard Type: Awakened
Element: Fire
● APPEARANCE
Height: 5’6”
Weight: 132 lbs
● PERSONALITY
Positive:
Courageous: Grey tends to live her life on the edge, always on the move and pushing boundaries. If she’s confronted with conflict or an experience that might illicit fear in others she’ll tend to face the situation with an unusual enthusiasm. She uses her fear like fuel, pushing herself until she conquers that which makes her afraid.
Bold: Grey’s outgoing attitude and her ability to take affirmative action gives her a rather bold appearance. She’s incredibly self confident both in herself and in her actions...even if she doesn’t always think things through. She’s not the type to enjoy being a follower, rather she envisions herself a leader and isn’t shy about sharing her opinion with others. Whether others will follow her is up in the air of course.
Athletic: Grey has always enjoyed sports ever since she was little, truly she’s a tomboy through and through. She enjoys all sorts of sports and has dabbled in a few of them on occasion however, her true passion is in parkour and gymnastics. She enjoys feeling accomplished and sports have always provided her that sense of accomplishment as she grew older. Overall, Grey is a very active person who doesn’t enjoy being lazy nor does she enjoy seeing others be lazy. After all in her opinion, you were put on this earth for a purpose how will you ever figure it out if you just sit on your ass all day?
Neutral:
Uninhibited: Grey doesn’t tend to think before she speaks or acts. Essentially she follows her heart rather then her head when it comes down to it.
Flexible: Both physically and mentally, Grey is quite the flexible individual. She might not always agree with others opinions but, it isn’t like she’s unopposed to listening to others. It might take some charming language but, eventually she can be won over.
Negative:
Destructive: Grey likes to blow shit up. She’s fascinated by fire, a true pyromaniac through and through; sadly, this trait of hers can lead to...fires being started. She truly enjoys watching things burn or crumble, be it a person or a building it doesn’t matter to her so long as she gets to watch it all go down. When she fights things tend to wind up destroyed and she has little qualms for the destruction she’ll cause; after all in her mind, if folks didn’t want things burnt to a crisp they’d have built their shit better.
Obnoxious: As was stated previously Grey can come off quite bubbly and bold however, this personality isn’t for everybody. As such, sometimes Grey’s bold attitude can come off quite obnoxious, especially when she’s trying to get everybody to follow her point of view. She doesn’t try to come off obnoxious on purpose of course but, it’s not like she’s going to change herself so everybody will like her. If she doesn’t enjoy you she will make this distaste known and will care little for how her actions make you feel.
Resentful: Let’s just say you don’t ever wanna get on Grey’s bad side. She doesn’t let things go easily and has a tendency to hold grudges. She can be quite a bitch if she doesn’t like you and isn’t shy with her words. If you truly have gotten on her bad side and she’s decided she’s done with you she might even wind up destroying personal property. *Note to mods, I will not rp Grey destroying other character’s property unless the owner of said character has given me the okay. She will also never destroy school property unless mods have provided me the okay to do so <3 *

Fears:
Fear isn’t something Grey tends to feel but, there are a few things that really get the hairs standing on the back of her neck. She is incredibly afraid of being buried alive; where this fear came from she can’t recall but, it’s haunted her as she’s gotten older. Another irrational fear of hers is being restrained. She doesn’t enjoy being tied down in any sense of the word and will generally begin to panic the moment the first figurative knots been tied.
Aspirations:
As Grey’s grown older she’s begun to question her place in the world, what she’s meant to do with her life that sort of thing. She hopes to gain worldly experience, enough for herself and for her sister who passed away.

●HISTORY
*Warning suicide and attempted murder mentioned*
Grey never knew her parents sadly as they were taken from her at the young age of two due to a drunk driver striking their vehicle one late afternoon. Thankfully, her mother’s elder sister, Hettie, took her in and raised her as her own along with her other child, Fauna. Fauna who was five years old, when Grey was brought into their lives, took to Grey immediately and became a doting older sister. She vowed to always protect Grey, to keep her safe and happy.
Life was easy and simple back then for Grey as she grew up with her loving family; she entered public school with no issues, finding friends for herself easily enough. She grew up happy, safe and loved by her family. Everything seemed perfect..at least to her. But, sadly there was something dark growing inside her sister Fauna as they grew, something Grey and her family couldn’t see. Unlike Grey, Fauna had been dealing with expectations placed upon her by her father, her mother, her school. Everyone expected perfection from Fauna, perfection she simply could not give. She began to see Grey, who was constantly screwing up and yet still be doted on by her parents, as an annoyance. An eyesore. That love she’d felt for her adopted younger sister quickly became tainted with jealousy and disdain.
Grey of course, was none the wiser to her sister’s hatred but, she did worry over her changing attitude. After all, Fauna had always treated Grey with kindness, with love and gentleness; her new found attitude of snarky remarks and muttered curses..it was odd to say the least. She’d wanted to ask her parents about Fauna’s attitude but, always it was brushed off as something trivial, that Fauna was just going through hormonal teenage things. She didn’t dare question her parents after all, they’d always been right before hadn’t they? This went on for a few more years, Fauna’s hatred for Grey steadily building until the dam of dark emotion burst. Their parents weren’t home, as it was date night for them, and Grey had been watching tv when she smelled something pungent and oily, like gasoline.
She hadn’t noticed it at first but, throughout the night Fauna had been layering the house in gasoline, covering it from top to bottom. Fauna called Grey into the kitchen, saying something about how the gas must be on and for her to come help her turn it off. Of course, being a dutiful younger sister Grey had come to her aide without question but, that was a mistake. As soon as she entered the kitchen, the smell of gas only got worse, and she saw with horror stricken eyes her sister light a match with a bright smile. Fauna told her, as she held the match aloft in her fingers, that this was all Grey’s fault, that she hadn't been able to live her life because of Grey. Grey cried out for her to put the match down and so it was with a sickly smile that Fauna replied “Okay,” and dropped the match setting the room aflame. Fauna’s deathly screams, the sickening pop of skin bubbling and melting..those are sounds Grey will never forget. She watched her sister burn before panic raced into her mind, her only thoughts on escaping. But, that was better said than done as the flames raced higher and higher and smoke filled the house. Fauna had bolted the front door shut, nailing it and the windows into place. Smoke was beginning to fill the air and Grey knew in that moment if she didn’t do something fast she would die. With one last ditch effort she picked up a flaming chair, not even realizing the flames didn’t burn her fingers and threw it at the living room window. It cracked open and Grey dragged herself across the broken glass out to the other side, to freedom. She lay there in the cool grass taking in great big breaths of air until the authorities arrived. But, by that point the house and Fauna were beyond helping; Grey was found unconscious and taken to a hospital.
Shortly, after this traumatic incident Grey found herself back in her parent’s care with a newly awakened shard..and no burn scars. Turns out she had an affinity for fire..something that her parents were devastated over. Once the prospect of the Academy was brought up her parents eagerly shipped Grey off to it, hoping that with time they would be able to look at her properly again..rather than seeing her and her abilities as a horrid reminder of what their daughter Fauna had did. As for Grey she was never quite the same after that incident, she began to crave danger, to feel that rush of life she’d felt after the fire. She wanted to experience that feeling again, that adrenaline flowing through her veins. She was the strong one now, even Fauna had admitted that. So it was up to her to see just how far she could push things, to see how far she could go before she broke. She would last longer then Fauna, she’d experience enough for the both of them.
●ABILITIES
Ability One | Name: Ring of Fire | Defensive | Grey shoots out gasoline around herself from her glove in a small 5 ft radius and then ignites the gasoline with her flint fingertips thus creating a giant ring of fire that surrounds her.
Weakness: This ability only lasts as long as it takes the gasoline layer to burn and whatever ground is beneath her. It doesn’t work well in colder temperatures and can easily be smothered out with the use of a water ability or if her concentration is broken. At max she can use this ability twice as it takes a full tank of gasoline to use.
Ability Two | Name: Engulf | Offensive| Grey shoots out large blasts of fire at targets within 15 feet of her and manipulates the flames to burn the individual for up to five minutes.
Weakness: She has a limited number of shots as it depends on how much gasoline is left in her tanks. A full tank would allow her 2 shots. If the connection from her backpack to her gloves is severed or cut she will be unable to amplify her flames efficiently for combat thus weakening her in combat. This ability requires Grey to concentrate if her concentration is broken the ability will cease and she'll lose control her flames.
Weapon: Grey has a backpack on her back that houses two canisters of gasoline mixed with a sort of acceleration, these tanks have tubes that connect to the gloves and applicators on Grey’s hands. These gloves have flint on the tips that allow Grey to make a spark, said spark is then amplified by the gasoline that seeps out the tubes into the palm of Grey’s hand thus allowing Grey ample fire to use. Basically think of it as an on the go flamethrower. Like this guys DIY invention but with gloves: www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5_ogU…
