Description An assortment of MH-60Ms operated by the Rosenthal Incorporated Tactical Rotary Operations Division.

From top to bottom:  Category 5, Armageddon, Black Pearl, and Fourth Horseman.

Category 5 is configured as a DAP, while the other 3 aircraft are shown configured as "slicks," for troop transport.  Rosenthal DAPs generally fly with the doors mounted to reduce windblast and the blast effect from the miniguns, which are fixed forward in DAP configuration, and whose muzzle blast extends past the pilot's door when fired.  Slicks, on the other hand, remove the doors to save weight and increase visibility in confined landing zones, as the doors provide no appreciable ballistic protection.

So you can configure a slick MH-60 into a DAP? Huh, never knew (though when I think about it it seems pretty obvious).

That's how it's always been.  It didn't happen as often in the time between the introduction of the MH-60K and the MH-60M because the Kilos all got the troop transport jobs while the MH-60Ls got to be dedicated DAPs, but it's being seen again now since the SOAR's gone to a full MH-60M fleet.

But yeah, DAP is pretty simple.  Before the advent of the LASS wings it was just a case of mounting the short ESSS wings, fixing the miniguns forward, and going off to shoot stuff.  Now it's, well, pretty much the same, just now the wings are all cuuuuurvy and stuff.
