Description The Ranger class scout, USS Strider has been reassigned from Defense Outpost 1121 in the Korial sector to Star Station India. After a highly controversial "incident" in the Stogar system (within Klingon space), she is undergoing major refit operations before she returns to patrol duty.

Based on an original Star Trek: The Role Playing Game (FASA) design, re-imagined by Brian Gillies and partially modeled by Kevin Riley back in 2003. Still a WIP. Upper aft starboard view.

I'd thought I would comment here rather on each one individually. This is a fantastic design for TMP era. Many designs you see are big ships, but this is small. I really like the configuration and modelling skill that has gone into this. She looks to be around a frigate/destroyer in side and it's great to see a fan ship of this size of this quality produced. I think one day I may make a game quality model, as I really like this design. Excellent work. Have you got any plans to release a stats/orthographic sheet?

Thanks. Β She's been a real treat to work on. Β The designers did a fantastic job.

I'm not sure why I tend to lean toward small ships.Β  It's not like I prefer them; I'm really quite fond of the larger vessels in the TMP era (Enterprise, Reliant, other FASA & fan designs like the Phobos), but I do tend to shun the largest of the large ships that begin to appear after Excelsior in the TNG period.

I don't have too many specific stats, as I don't necessarily concentrate on specifics such as; phaser models and overall firepower, engine output, ultimate speed, etc...

Given her diminutive scale and intended mission (scout), she probably has a relatively small crew but it's hardly skeleton.Β  I'd have to work out some interior details before I could even have a hint of how many people the ship might accommodate.

She's probably relatively fast compared to larger ships, and I suspect she has pretty powerful impulse engines for a ship her size.

Her phasers are typically the single units, but they are spread pretty far and wide. She clearly has two torpedo launchers, one fore and one aft.
Β
She should have 1 to 2 shuttles, depending on the configuration. The aft bay model would have room for a single large shuttle in one bay and preferrably some workbees or shuttle pods in the other bay.

The front bay model could hold two of the large shuttlecraft and might still have room for a bay in the aft for shuttlepods and workbees, but that is still being debated in my brain's Senate.Β

I'm currently getting crazy ideas for the cargo bays that flank that forward bay and possible parking locations in there for workbees as well.Β  It might be a fun interior diversion in the near future, but again no commitments

I don't have any specific plans for orthographic sheets, but I did put some preliminary orthographics on my blog (back in June) if you wanted to take a look there.Β  The link is on my profile page and here starstation.wordpress.com/ . I might update those in the near future probably, for both configurations. Β They didn't take too long to render.

I can understand the ortho part, I followed your link and found your old ones, great job and a very nice organised blog.Β

Yeah the Phobos is a favourite of mine too. I have a thing for smaller ships atm, probably due to the projects I am working on.Β

She sounds to have a lot more auxiliary craft than I would have guessed. I was guessing a total of two shuttles, being of such a small class. I don't know how many the Constitution had, my guess would be four, six at the top side. That is all just a guess in the dark and from what I saw in the series and movies.Β

I will sure be keeping my eye for updates, I love your TMP work it's very inspirational.

Thanks so much!Β  I'm looking forward to more scenery, but I seem to be spinning my wheels as to exactly what I want.
