Description
So yeah...I was watching Remembrance of the Daleks and decided to try and recreate the Imperial Dalek mutant from what little we could barely see. Quite honestly, I think I have an idea of which faction at least survived the Dalek Civil War.The most definite feature was the claw that reached up and grabbed the Doctor, but from what showed up in the transmat, there did not seem to be any claws...just gangly limbs with three fingers. So I improvised.
I kind of like the line about "So they're fighting over which blob is blobbier?"...since it seems that the Imperial Daleks aren't very blobby at all.
With most of their major organs out of place, they probably can't survive outside their casing what so ever.

The Imperial Dalek mutant design doesn't look very good in my opinion. It looks like a failed badly mutated fetus with its brain and guts outside its organic body plus it would be impossible to transfer the mutant from one travel machine to another without killing it.
I prefer the "blobs with one eye and tentacles" design that the mutants of the Time War Daleks had. At least they looked like a lifeform then made sense and could be more easily transferred to a different travel machine.Β

This is how the a Imperial Daleks looked in the series. That appearance is probably one of the reasons why the Renegades considered them "impure". They're so augmented that they're falling apart

Yeah, tell me about it. Davros was even more insane then I thought for thinking that it was a superior form of Dalek mutant from the traditional ones. No wonder the Renegade Daleks thought the Imperials were freaks of nature, I do too.
As for the term "Renegade", the Renegade Daleks undoubtedly called themselves the "true Daleks" and thought of the Imperial Daleks as the actual renegades for being in a freakish mutant form and for following Davros whose a non-Dalek whose crazy and short tempered.Β

I realized after I sent the last message that Imperial Daleks probably rebuild a new casing around the old one, and not bother to make new completely from scratch.Β

You are probably right about that, Bat-Snake.Β Since Daleks are small and do not have a hard shell to cover their bodies with, they probably do rely on their casing 24/7.

Well, it's so much more than that too. They're connected to life support systems inside. So basically, it's if a tank and an iron lung from the Polio age had a heck-spawn child.

If you read the novelization, it tells you that they are almost constantly full of drugs, like to compensate when they get excited and such. I think that since they need the casing to survive because it also says that there's life support systems in the casing, they would have had either surgery to remove the ability to feel pain or they are medicated to the point that they don't notice it

I actually haven't read it, but I'd like to get a hold of some of them.Β
But yeah, I'm not surprised they would be full of drugs. And probably for a lot more reasons than my gag reflexes can handle. My theory is that the more powerful the casings become, the more weak and degenerate the creatures get. The Imperial Daleks are probably at the very bottom of the chain after the Time War Daleks. Since there have been ones of that type who have survived outside their shells and their organs, however limited they may be, are at least in one place.

The novelisation of Remembrance is definitely worth reading. But Daleks have been genetically engineered to be emotionless, so they probably can not feel pain anyway.

Except that pain and emotion are not connected within the brain. Well...okay, some aspects are connected, like sorrow leading to some level of physical pain. There's evidence enough that Daleks do indeed feel physical pain when they're under attack or being killed. If they were to not feel pain in the casings, it's probably drugged out of their systems...and even then, there's probably some pain.
