Description
Getting closer to her being ready for complete casting. Her legs are now ready. I cut her solid leg into feet. I couldn't get the solid leg to pivot correctly, so i had to cut them. Next week is polishing her legs, putting on lines, and then casting them! the arms tho... the arms are not near ready. they need a lot of work yet. :/Related content

I have to say, I'm usually not big on machina in general, but I am love, love, loving these dolls!! I dunno if it's their precious humaniod faces, their tiny little waists or their adorable little mecha feet, but I am watching your studio, girl!! LOL Keep up the fantastic work!

I use various grits of sand paper, ending with a 1200 grit. Then I take a type of sanding sponge called synthetic steel wool in extra fine and it polishes her super shiny. :3

NGL, I really want a horde of these so I can make them into chibi-Seeker girls. She is so cute! Will you eventually be making other head molds?

Regardless, I am eager to see her finished! How much will you be selling her for? (And will you offer all the other resin colors too?)

i'm not really sure yet... i'm still trying to decide if I want to take her to a professional casting place or do a run on my own. If I do her on my own it'll make her more expensive. I'll be sure to post it here when I know, tho. :3

yeah! i did show the building. I thought you meant the core of the mold, not the original doll. :3
I'm glad you like the dolls!

do you cover your paper clay with some sort of primer before casting? And is the dark torso and head are resin, or paper clay?
this looks awesome.

batchix In reply to IceDemon23 [2011-10-11 17:27:53 +0000 UTC]
the dark parts are the primed parts, it's rustolium sandable primer. THe paperclay has to be completely sealed before it can be cast.
glad you like her!

aww thank you so much! I think i've gotten better at making them really clean. Its hard for me to do, I just don't have the eye or patience for that kind of detail work. @D@;;;

sinead In reply to batchix [2011-10-05 11:39:09 +0000 UTC]
You coulda fooled me, actually, about the attention to detail thing. I was at Botcon in June, and I saw one of your creations in person. (She looked like the black and lime machina, only in silver and blue.) It's clear to see that a lot of love goes into what you do, no matter the outcome, and that inspires me, in turn. (Not that I know the first thing about making a BJD, but I could prolly make one in a 3D program >.>)

thank you! that would be Sparks, Sionna's girl. :3 She has a blue metallic boy, Ice, as well. There are 3d printing companies that will print a doll if you model it, but it's super expensive. I actually 3d modeled some of the ball halves of the ball-joints recently. they haven't shipped yet tho. I'm kind of excited about them. XD

I don't know... won't know till i cast the legs. I built in locks so she should be able to keep her legs straight and stand without too much effort on the owner's part.
