Description paperdoll i was talking about, she was in my notebook. :3

see detail here: [link]

someday I hope to watercolor them all... but I think I prefer to reprint them on water color paper and then re-ink and paint them.

These aren't 100% accurate. Obviously the doll herself's underwear isn't accurate... but because i wanted some of the dresses to be more revealing than others I had to fudge her drawers. X3 most of the images are based on actual clothes that I've researched... the time period is mostly 1870-1890. There's one or two that are more influenced by 1900-1920. The dresses are designs for six different characters in a story I wrote.

Hey, good dress designs. Where do you find the documentation about victorian clothes?? I'm searching this information in all sites and not find anything TT_TT

[link] is a good start. [link] is also good but not always safe for work. [link] is good too. The dresses I drew are a hodge podge of actual photo portraits and fashion plate illustrations.

I really must say, you certainly succeeded to create a tasteful variety, and the drawing style itself is quite appealing: very clean and not excessively detailed.

Anyway, I'm honoured that you chose to share this in my group! Cheers.

Thanks! I have a big archive of victorian dresses and referenced them a lot as I made the paperdoll. I'm glad you wanted to include them!

These were mostly inspired from fashion plates from the time period that the story took place. [link] this community on LJ has a lot of great reference pictures! glad you liked the paperdoll!

Ooh, not only is this excellently varied, but it's also a very nice, clear drawing reference. Not, as you say, for anyone trying to paint an anally precise picture of Victorian fashion, but anyone looking for a bit of inspiration from that age will be pleasantly rewarded. Awesome job!

Really awesome. I'm absolutely addicted to paperdolls. I'm currently trying to do my own, but they're terribly messy, and I doubt if everything would line up correctly if I ever cut em out.

batchix In reply to GreeneMegan [2008-06-11 05:50:08 +0000 UTC]

thanks! How are you doing them? I use a light table so I can see the clothes and the doll really clearly. :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GreeneMegan In reply to batchix [2008-06-11 22:40:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, a light table would be great, but I'm working with a student budget, so I improvise. Our kitchen table is glass so I set up my flexi-lamp underneath. It's not the best system, but better than taping them to the sliding door while the sun's hitting it (which, yes, is what I did before the glass table...drawing on a verticle surface is not so fun.)

batchix In reply to GreeneMegan [2008-06-12 00:21:57 +0000 UTC]

oo~ that works pretty well! I mean, that's all a light table is. XD I got mine on-sale for $9 by chance. e.e;;;
