I wonder if this question ever came up during Bella's inquiry of Edward about being a vampire? One can certainly speculate...It does seem a very silly question. XD
I like Bella's awkward wisps of hair.

They talked about it...when Edward was showing bella how he really travels when they left the meadow for the first time. I don't remember the exact words, but I'm sure they mentioned it at that point in the book.

I love how Meyer's built up her own conventions for her mythology-universe--straying from traditional vampire mythologies to bring us something a little closer to reality. It seems like that's been a really popular style for fiction nowadays. (Battle Star Galactica, Heroes, Lost, Enchanted, etc...) I feel like the closer fantasy comes to reality, the easer it becomes for an audience (or group of readers) to "get into".

I don't remember it being discussed at all. Or maybe I just wasn't paying close attention to that. I remember the "sleeping in coffins" and "vampires die in the sun" bit, tho.

I'm sure i was thinking of True Blood, HBO's newest series. Too many vampires on the brain.
I think in Twilight I was too focused on the Batman/comic references to notice much else XD
