Description These are 1 3/4" tall, about 5 or 6 hours of work for the both of them. They're fun to do. (Each time I do a new big letter, I'll be doing 2 small prize scroll sized ones. It's good to have those around)

ETA AcK! The picture is HUGE! Damned if I know what I did, that caused that. Perhaps I shouldn't use Gimp to combine two scans. Damn but it's big.

Wonderful! I need to do my preprints, this is the sort of thing I was looking at doing, maybe with less goldwork.

Robert, are you in a Pre-print kingdom? The whitework can really spiff those up dramatically.

Yep. I'm in Calontir. I have two pre-prints, one for an AOA and one for a kingdom award, sitting on my easel. Both seem to be in about that style! I picked them up at RUSH and I still haven't done them. I got so tied up in finishing ~alilone 's art that I slopped out of October (the art month) into November, which should be nanowrimo but it's going nowhere fast right now. I've got just under 800 words in on my second try at a novel, and trying to work on it is as hard as working on the fantasy novel was. I'm tempted to chuck that and go back to the previous, at least I had some respectable word count.

I don't know why I'm so jacked up about writing this year, but I don't like it. Usually I've got a novel finished by now!

And the preprints being that delayed is a bad thing, they might not be used if I get them in too late even if I do a good job. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed on things lately.

Second attempt to post a reply...*Hugs* I hear that about feeling overwhelmed, there's a lot going on up here too. I'd say set aside the preprints, and pick up the ones for the next reign, that way you have the time to do them to your level, without rushing.

Hmm... you might be right. I've got so much on my plate right now that I probably won't have time to get to them. Much as I would love to do them with that white highlight and delicately shaded approach, and don't know what the style of the next reign will be... you're probably right about that.

I did get into my novel a bit today though. Not much but I pushed it forward and got past 20k, which is a small milestone. If I get in even one really good day, I will wind up slamming on it and get very far. I shouldn't give up really, because I did 75,000 in three days this year in August for the 3 Day Novel.

That tagline of yours is very encouraging!

YAY on the words!, and yes, I know that you can do the rest of the words when they hit you, they hit you fast.

and I *love* that quote from Churchill, it's kept me going.

Yep. It makes so much sense. When in hell, why linger? It rocks.

Purr thanks! I figured out what it is -- it still comes back to physical stuff. My fingers hurt. My joints are stiff on my right hand especially and that's jacking with it -- I type for an hour or so and then my hand cramps. Once the weather turns again it'll probably lighten up.

Re: the hand cramping, can you write in 30 minute bursts, and then do the stretching, and shaking out, that we're all supposed to be doing? In other words, would that help, writing in shorter segments, and then get some blood flowing?
(I've had to shift to 30 minute bursts here, else my leg and shoulder cramps up so bad I can't sleep, but shorter times helps enormously)

Not really. The joint swelling doesn't go away with the stretching, I tried that. It goes away when the air pressure shifts again and not before, so I read or do something else till my hand works.

Also if I try to write in shorter bursts, it really gets bad fast. Once I get going and hit the zone, then I'm going to write for hours on end without stopping, it's the stops that make it almost impossible to get going again. Not how my brain works. Either I immerse or I must be doing something other than writing. I can draw in little increments now and then, it doesn't affect my art at all, but writing has to be immersive or I lose it.

I understand that. Well here's wishing for better weather for you.

Purr thanks! Hey, it worked! I got in a bit of a chapter to finish one, then an entire nother chapter up to 25,548 -- starting to get caught up in a big way. Chapter a day now will do it, to make my goal I only need to do 2667 a day total, so a chapter knocks out about two days worth of it in a shot. Make up for all those sick days whenever they fell.

I feel good about it now, since I have rested up from that overexertion and see no reason to do any other overexertion till the month is over.

It's not so big. I see bigger all the time. I like it because it lets the viewer see all the little details.
