Description
It's done! I apologise for the quality of this. I'm just starting to get the hang of using GIMP for this kind of thing. I think the ending sections look better than the beginning ones.View Full Size, it's large.

Thank you. I hoped it would wind up on The Scriptorium (one of the groups here on the DA.) They're a fantastic resource for all things relating to calligraphy and illumination.

Ah, okay. I didn't know whether this copying was permissable or not, so I thought I ought to inform you of it in any case. Glad to hear that this was something positive for you.
Hmmm... Since The Scriptorium seems to be such a good resource for such things, could I interest you in going through their archives and adding the best tutorials from their archives to the Art Tutorials Wiki? I'd do it myself, except for the following reasons:
- Calligraphy and illumination aren't my primary field of interest, but digital art - and so I'm not really qualified to know what is useful in that area and what not. But I want the Art Tutorials Wiki to support more than just digital art, and for this I need some outside expertise...
- Currently, the precious free time I spend on the wiki is dedicated to adding as many tutorials as possible to it, from as many different styles of art as possible. To put it bluntly, I want to make the wiki well-known enough until I am no longer the only guy working on improving it - and that means I have to raise general awareness of it and can't spend much time on researching more specialized fields for it...
I would really appreciate it if you - or anyone else you know who has also relevant knowledge - could help me out with this. If not, I will have to put this on the back burner...

I don't recall many, if any, tutorials in the gallery there. I just stumble across stuff here and there. Mostly, tutorials for photoshop/gimp which I find enormously useful. but as I come across them, I'll let you know.
I used to have a folder of links to tutorials on the web, for new calligraphers and illuminators, but I don't know where it went to.

For SCA use, you have my permission to figure out how to print it out, and use it. Seriously. Just credit me (Lord Robert of Stonemarche) (some of your embroiderers may have heard of me)
I'm going to try and play around with it. If I can get it formatted to 81/2 x 11 paper, I'll drop you a note, here and arrange to get it to you (either reposting it, or sending it via email)
Again, for SCA use, I'm more than happy to let this out into the wild, just with proper attribution.

Thank you! I came on here tonight intending to ask you for that. I want to print it out and bind it (modern report cover) to display at our Ice Castles event in January. I'm also hoping to start a local scriptorium in the winter, and your tutorial would be helpful. Your method is different from mine, as well as your medium, so it gives people a new perspective.

If it helps, check my "Scraps" section. I posted the tutorial there, formated to an 81/2x11 page, there are 5 pages.
(I'd have added my name to the pages, but bluntly couldn't figure out how. )

No problem.
BTW, if you know of any other good tutorials, please don't hesitate to add them to the wiki - I've set permissions so that anyone can edit it.
