Description This is the third edition to my horror series. I hope you all enjoy.. I choose a stippling technique since the subject was pinhead himself.. The backround is suppossed to look out of focus. Much like a Macro mode with a camera. It might help to step back in full view to see how I tried to achieve this..

jacob, this is fantastic! absolutely stellar. i too am working on a piece with stippling (it's taking forever, which is why i haven't posted in awhile), so i know the patience it took to do this piece.

i love the perspective with the background out of focus, and your work is just impeccable around the folds of his eyes in particular. the pins are very well rendered as well. you have really improved these past months, i'm not trying to blow sunshine up your ass or anything, but you should be very proud of this one.

glad to provide a bit of head-expansion, you deserve it. i'll comment on the other pieces in your horror movie series soon, ok? this one just stuck out to me, mostly because its incredible but also because i've always had kind of a sick crush on pinhead.

This is really cool, Beardo! I loved your Leatherface BBQ pic, so now I'm going back and checking out the rest of that series.

The stippling is very nice - it really gives a haunting effect. That contrast is fantastic!

Thanks I have so many ideas for the next images in the series.. I have a feeling this series will be going on for awhile..

I think the stippling adds something intangibly creepy to your style, which is already really strong. The stippling just does something to raise these pieces to the next level.

I hope you do continue this series, I want to see more!

Excellent job capturing Pinhead! Always one of my favorite characters, and you've got his brooding perfectly. I also love a good black-and-white pen illustration, and this one is fantastic!

FANTASTICO! Love it, isn't stippling great fun? It is so rewarding. I love this, man beautiful render. It's amazing what great depth and "flesh" one can pull off with just lots n lots of little dots.

Great technique. The head looks just great.
I'm not sure about the background though. The biggest white areas are on the background, so it's very distracting. I would make that darker than the face. Still great inkwork though!

BeardoMcWeirdo In reply to MartinSilvertant [2007-03-15 14:40:54 +0000 UTC]

The problem with the backround is the technique I tried to use to make the backround blurry which should help the eye focus on pinhead himself. It's much like a macro mode on a camera. It really doesn't come together until you take a few steps back.. Try it and you'll see what I mean. It's a merge of two styles that I do quite often and the only thing that ties the two together is the stippling.
