I can't really say I'm too fond of Insan0 either. His raps are good and the basic premise of what he's trying to accomplish in his music is kind a nice substitute for Necro junkies. When it comes out on a low quality youtube video, though, its just TOO creepy. This coming from a Razorback fan who's seen all sorts of weird shit like guro that completely robbed me of my innocence (this happening maybe around my high school years, when I just had to look up "Lord Gore" without any filters).

As for the actual drawing: the victim's face is perfect, but the killer looks... wonky. I know its supposed to be a loose-fitting hood, but this attempt to emulate the folds & whatnot has fallen short some. The point at the hood's end seems to defy logic: unless there's a slight wind in there, there's no way it should be up to the height it is. The hand on the left (when facing the picture) seems to have a disappearing thumb. Also, his left arm and clothing overall seem less detailed than the victim's. Just because the killer's in the background does not excuse simplification, even if he was a bit further back. Maybe some shading could be done to give the impression of a dim lightbulb hanging from the ceiling.

Hope you appreciate my comments.

I most certainly appreciate the comments... The killer in back has troubled me for quite sometime and has already been planned for a change up to the Pig Faced Character instead. So I am very happy to see someone else other then myself not satisfied with him either. Sometimes I think I'm going crazy when I see these things and others don't. Stay tuned for an update on this piece within the coming weeks. As for Insano as an artist all together well I never state my opinion related to another artists work that I work closely with. All I can state regarding his music and film career is that I am a supporter of what he is trying to do for the industry. As for a public critique, well that's simply between Insano and I..

When Insano speaks, does he sound like a regular dude or is he really, pardon the pun, "insano"? That's kind of my main beef.
I can usually tolerate incredibly disgusting things if its all fictitious to a certain degree and maybe a bit comical, but real horror (the term is supposed to be less broad in the way its used here) just seem in bad taste. Like, I understand if famous murders or whatever are inspiration for songs or drawings, but it seems repulsive and incredibly disrespectful to start worshipping people like Manson or Gein just because one has an obsession over them.
Of course, you probably can't answer this question due to confidentiality and being mutually faithful to your clients.

Well from what it sounds like you think "Insano" is a fake. I am also not sure what you mean by worship Gein or Manson. I simply don't see the obsession you are talking about. I understand that "Insano" is a supporter of James Gilks and the highly successful Serial Killer Calender website. "Insano" is simply a Death Rap artist who has the taste for extreme horror. Much like Necro and every other Death Metal artist out there. Do you really think Chris Barnes from Cannibal Corpse/Six Feet Under really fucks bitches with razor attached to his dick? The fact is they are all putting on an act. They are all trying to do something to shock the public and make somebody think about it. I see traits in "Insano" that make me think of people like Lucifer Valentine and you know what if the man keeps paying well I'll keep drawing. Truley it's as simple as that.. Keep paying and I'll keep drawing them... If he becomes a success in the mean time well thats fine with me. If he falls on his face and determines this project as a failure well that is ok with me too. Simply I only work with business men/women. "Insano" sticks to a plan and most importantly he sticks to his word and that is all I can ask.

Nice, thorough response.
What I mean by his "worship" of serial killers is that in all of his videos or even on his website, he seems to have a painstaking, balls-out collection of every serial killer you've ever/never heard of, which makes me a bit iffy. I mean with Necro or Cannibal Corpse or Lord Gore, whatever, sure everything is gory as hell, but its essentially all for entertainment. And I'm sure Insano's just doing that as well: an elaborate and thought-provoking act with the intention to make people shit themselves in pure fright. I'm just worried that all this attention and focus to real life serial killers is an unhealthy one that I've seen in all the screwed up kids on myspace who post videos of autopsies like its no big deal, and just displaying them [the serial killers] in such a way is incredibly offensive to the families who've suffered through their ordeals.

This is where I draw the line for entertainment: on one hand, if Insano doesn't appear "br00tal" enough he's suddenly not "real", or has less credibility. Yet with this credibility comes obvious controversy that far outreaches anything I've seen so far. You think I don't understand what he's doing? Try showing this to any "normal" person or, better yet, your mother. They'd vomit so much they'd fly through the roof. Anyhow, if on the other hand he turns down the violence, he indeed loses a majority of his fan base because he is seen as selling out or "going soft". However, he has a slightly better chance of appealing to a wider audience and not getting banned off-of every website he touches.

So that's about the whole of my problems with the "extreme horror death rap" genre. I usually consider myself to have a high tolerability for puking dick monsters and maggot-infested vaginas, but when I start seeing names like "DJ Harvey Oswald" having a website with an entire page dedicated to chicken beheadings, thats where I lose faith in people. And again, you seem like an overall decent guy just trying to earn some bread, and I understand that it IS as simple as "if you're going to pay me, I'll keep drawing for you". I guess I'm just... "old fashioned", this coming from the guy who head bangs to Jig-Ai at 3am. But that's not a very good example. I guess the fact that Insano can keep his word shows that, although his art is built around it, he's not some lunatic who goes out and slaughters people while putting-up raps for all the gore pervs to listen to. Likewise, he's not some pussy who just says "Yo, I'm a ultra-hyper psycho, I'll spill your blood on my limo" everyday for a few bucks.

Wow awesome response and I must say I am really enjoying this conversation or even debate if you will.. I must say that I did have my concerns when immediately dealing with this guy. I've had other artists make plenty of promises and many back down when they realize that I work on a strictly professional level. "Insano" has truley delivered on every aspect of the contract we worked out. The fact that he even accepted a contract meant to me that he certainly was a businessman. We have to also remember that "Insano" lives in Australia and can easily burn me on any one of my illustrations by not paying. He however has been incredibly prompt on his paypal transactions and has posted his support for my work on multiple pages. I couldn't ask more from the guy.. The one thing that also concerned me is that he has been banned from soooooo many sites already. Paypal, Youtube, and Rue Morgue magazine to name a few.. Then I realize what he's doing, all this negative attention is simply free advertisment and as humans we can't help but be curious...... He realizes he is not "the best" persay but that's not stopping him from trying. When you think about it it's the same tactics Cannibal Corpse used in the eighties and they are still banned from playing in certain cities.

The only time I ever draw for people I do it for free 99.99% of the time, so most of this stuff is something I don't deal with enough to know much about it. When I do art for people, I'm usually pretty lucky like you are, with support and all. Of course, my main site or whatever is based around a close knit fan community, so its not often someone screws you over, even if you do get paid for something (which is the primary income for a lot of the more talented members of the site). I know Australia has some issues regarding the US Dollar, but again international territory is something I'm clueless on. I'm just glad your client(s) are true to their word and you've essentially got it made in the field you're in. And I've never really thought of it that way, the whole "bad press is good press" approach. A clever move on his part. Not really one that improves his skill, but still not a bad idea if you're into that gory stuff and want to make some dough.

Overall, as with any artist, I'll usually be a fan of their music no matter how much shit they do. However, my tolerance of the serial killers thing is about my limit. I just can't stand that.
And thanks for the watch :3 even though I contribute absolutely nothing to this site aside from conversations such as ours and critiques on the younger/older artists, its good to know that I'm not completely worthless. Kind of like one of those plastic ninja things you get in a vending machine: By no means the greatest thing ever, but worth at least a few minutes of entertainment.

Hey no doubt.. Consider the watch a sign of respect.. It takes balls to deconstruct an artist's work and let alone have a negative feeling towards a section or the entire piece in general. It's those conversation that help me grow as an individual and an artist all together. Believe it or not but alot of the work I do is for overseas clients. With the web these days it's easier to communicate specially when we have tools like paypal with automatic money conversion. I work strictly by contract and I never send unwatermarked or high res images until payment has been recieved. So I do take the precautions to protect my work. Ultimately all that matters is that I can put food on the table and maybe catch a free advertisment or two along lines. Maybe even build a few referals along the way....
