Description The rise of Diefenbaker to the leadership of the conservative party in '48 and his victory in the 1958 election were integral to Canada siding with the United Kingdom in the Suez War. The escalation of the war is considered to be a major component in the deterioration of US-European relations and the eventual dissolution of NATO in 1979.
While the war did give France and the UK a chance to prove themselves on the world stage it was disasterous for Israel which ended up it not just fighting Egypt but also the Soviet and American aligned Arab states. The fragility of the Israeli state was proven when it nearly collapsed in the one week war in 1967. The Israeli disaster resulted in the creation of a new mandate program under the United Nations, the mandate program effectively made protecterates of fragile and endangered states to greater powers.

(Pretty ASB I know)

You might want to adjust this file size, or whatever's creating all that extra space on the edges
