Description Just Super Mario swimming in his frog suit from Super Mario Bros. 3. (A pretty cool item for underwater levels.)
It looked a li'l plain, so I added a bunch of underwater enemies from several Mario games from different Nintendo consoles. (Ya gatta love the diverse Mario enemy characters.)

I messed up a li'l on some of the enemies, (drew everything here completelly from memory) but overall I like how this came out.
Can you name every enemy, and wich game it's from? You might get a prize!

I was actually trying to make him look more like a Moray eel, but I guess I messed up. The eel from SM64 (named officially "Unagi" according to the official NOA Player's Guide) always looked like a combination of a moray eel, and a pelican eel to me.

I commend your skill at drawing Mario in the Frog Suit. I've always found it difficult to draw him in any of the suits.

Really? I did it all the time as a kid. (Sense SMB3 was, and still is my favorite Mario game.) I think I even made up a few suits for him when I was little, hehe.

Pretty cool, the frog suit was one of those not-so common items that you had to use wisely funny how most of the water levels were before you got them though I recognise all the enemies except the seahorse and octopus ones

Ellostephan In reply to Chromattix [2015-05-03 17:36:50 +0000 UTC]

The seahorse is called yurarin and the octopus is called gunion. Oops on commenting so late... like 5 years late...

Chromattix In reply to Ellostephan [2015-05-04 00:33:12 +0000 UTC]

And yet I actually remember this one I think I remember Yurarin's in the first Super Mario Land game for the GameBoy, unless I'm confusing them with something else

Beau-Skunk In reply to Chromattix [2010-05-27 08:41:57 +0000 UTC]

There was a cleverly hidden one in World 2 (Desert Land) though.

The seahorse & Octopus both come from 1989's "Super Mario Land" for the original B&W Gameboy.
It's a pretty old/obscure game now, but a good game.

Really? I knew about many hidden special items in other stages (like more frog suits, and the other, rarer kind of raccoon suit) but I'm not sure if I remember one in the desert land

Oh yeah, I remember that GameBoy one, and the second Mario game for the GameBoy as well (which I enjoyed considerably more, I don't think I even finished the first one )

Beau-Skunk In reply to Chromattix [2010-05-27 09:06:56 +0000 UTC]

The Frog suit is hidden in a mushroom house, behind the rock (wich you can break with a hammer item) on the top right part of the edge of the map in World 2. (Y'know, where you get the warp whistle from the Fire Brothers?)

The "rarer" raccoon suit, (I'm assuming you meen the full-bodied raccoon suit) is called the "Tanooki suit."

Oh cool, I last played Auper Mario Bro 3 only a week or so ago (thank God for the Wii ) so it'll probably be a while before I play again. Lol, that's the suit I meant, wow I never would have guessed its called that sounds very cute and Japanese lol as a kid I used to call it the "bear suit" since I thought it was a bear as a kid lol

Beau-Skunk In reply to Chromattix [2010-05-27 09:28:36 +0000 UTC]

I have SMB3 for my Wii also actually. (Via the Virtual Console shop channel.) I never get tired of that game, no matter how many times I play through it.

I used to call that suit the "toodie" suit, sense I had trouble pronouncing it.

You've never played "Super Mario Bros. 3" then, where he could. The frog suit was an item that enhanced Mario's swimming abilities.

Beau-Skunk In reply to sonichugefan2 [2009-12-06 22:20:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it was alot of fun for water levels, but it kinda made Mario a li'l slower on land, so it did have a downside.

You should definatelly try SMB3 someday, it's a great game.

Oh yeah, the Hammer Bros. suit was great, the hammers could beat practically unbeatable enemies like Thwomps, and underwater Lava Lotuses. (Like the one in my picture.)

I might hafta make a pic for the Hammer Bros. suit to.

Oh lord... Not only does Mario seem like he's in a pickle with so many enemies about him, I just got hit by a massive wave of nostalgia. Looks like I'm gonna hafta boot up the SNES again...

VERY good work with the Frog suit! Drawing it in proportion to Mario's body, and drawing the fins, hands, and the Frog's face HAD to take a lot of effort. ^^ And Mario's face... it looks almost exactly like it did from the cartoons in SMBSS. Not only that, but you did an awesome job with all the enemies. XD That had to take some amount of resolve to draw that many!

Great work, bud! Keep it up!

Beau-Skunk In reply to MastaPepsi [2008-07-03 15:49:15 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Mario and the frog suit were acctually pretty easy to draw compared to alot of other stuff I've done. lol
The Torpedo Ted's box was the hardest thing to draw oddly. I was trying to give it a wierd perspective.

MastaPepsi In reply to Beau-Skunk [2008-07-04 01:54:14 +0000 UTC]

Mario seems oddly cheery despite having a swarm of baddies on his trail, and those aquatic annoyances are no laughing matter. They don't fear the mighty foot of Mario like those Goombas and Koopas do.
