The... long awaited part II of "How to draw fur part 1". Only took me 1 1/2 years to make That could have been done faster...

I decided against calling it "How to draw fur part 2" because there are so many techniques out there, and all of them are right. How you do it is personal preference. I'm merely showing how I do it, and hopefully some of you learn a little from it.

I usually use the same technique for backgrounds, rocks etc. as well, therefore the "fur" is in parentheses.

If anyone wants to guess the animal, feel free Final drawing will hopefully be posted next weekend! (Edit: Finished drawing: Juvenile Snow Leopard )

As usual with my tutorials - you can repost them on other sites, but credit me if possible. Do not remove the watermark in the corner.

Lack of shading
This is something I see very often, especially from young artists. A lack of shading will make the drawing look flat and uninteresting. The highlights and shadows will make the drawing pop out more, and create depth to the drawing.
There are different ways to shade. Cell shading is a common method in digital art, while it's used much with traditional media. The traditional way of blending out the shadows and highlights creates more realism to the artwork, while cell shading is good for semi-realism.
In the example I've added
I - no shading at all
II - cell shading
III - full, "normal" shading
