Story:

Weeks had gone by and Lola and Aoife were working together amazingly when they decided to jump her again, this time with Aoife riding. Georgia and Amy set up tiny cross rails around the outside arena for the pair to try. Firstly from a trot, Aoife pointed the mare at the jumps. Lola’s ears pricked forward as she locked on to the jump and trotted over it like a seasoned professional! Lola obviously didn’t think much of the raised pole and proceeded to basically walk over the other jumps. Laughing, the team rose the jumps to 2ft crossrails. This time they approached the jump in a nice canter and Lola jumped it nicely, though not perfectly. After every jump she improved however, gaining in confidence and style. The team didn’t want to push the mare too far on her first time jumping with a rider, so although they knew she could clear much higher jumps, they stopped at 2ft.

Although this was a baby step, the team could see that Lola was talented and would soon be showing other horses how it was done!

As the days went on, Aoife would alternate between dressage and jump training. On one jump day, she called Amy over to help set up the jumps and decided to try Lola over some bigger jumps, and also jumps of different styles. So Amy set up a 2ft3 oxer, an ascending oxer with the max height set at 2ft6, a 2ft6 upright and even a small upright with a Liverpool underneath it. They were expecting Lola to be freaked out by the unusual jumps, but she coasted around like she had been all along. The scary blue Liverpool made her jump with her head inbetween her knees because she was staring at it but she didn’t even bat an eye at the large oxers!
The mare was so calm after that one spook that Amy put the jumps up a bit higher. Lola jumped them like they were nothing but a few crossrails. Aoife was over the moon with her horse!
