Description this one looks kinda boring, sorry but i like how shiny Lola looks!

Story:

Once Lola was tacked up and tied in the indoor school like the day before, Aoife ushered in her fellow staff. She had asked Amy and Georgia to come and help her because she had seen the way Flash had reacted to being backed last year and it was not a pretty sight! Leading Lola around the school, Aoife ran down the stirrups and whilst walking, would place one hand on top of the saddle and bear some weight on it. Apart from a few sideways glances from Lola, there was no reaction. So turning into the middle, Amy came to hold Lola still while Aoife firstly leant against her horse, then lay across her back, and then pretended to mount up. All this happened without consequence. So naturally, the team decided to try and mount up for real. Slowly, Aoife put her weight in the stirrup and lightly mounted. When she was up, she sat tall and proud, for this had surely been easier than anyone could have predicted. But it was not that simple. For now Lola couldn’t see that it was her beloved Aoife who was sat on top of her. It could have been anyone and that shook Lola back into her wild, untrusting self. She tossed her head up high and seemed to try and shy away from the weight on her back. But she couldn’t get away. She started to canter around, looking for some kind of escape, or maybe just looking for Aoife, but she couldn’t find her. Sensing this, Aoife sat in the saddle as quietly as she could and gently started to talk to her horse. But Lola was getting confused now. She could hear Aoife but she couldn’t see her and who was the stranger on her back?! Galloping now, Lola lapped the indoor school countless times. Amy and Georgia, while worried for both Aoife and the horse, couldn’t help but notice the mare’s lovely natural movement. She wasn’t overly flashy, but she was very quick and with her black coat shining, she looked beautiful. However, this didn’t last long. In a last ditch attempt to unseat her rider, she tried to roll over. Aoife sensed this and jumped off before she could be hurt underneath the powerful hose. Lola relaxed when she felt the weight leave her back, and seemed positively happy when she saw Aoife again, but still she wouldn’t stand up again. Stroking her face and talking to her quietly, Aoife urged the mare to stand up, but to no avail. The mare seemed to have hurt herself. Badly. Amy suddenly whipped out her phone and started speaking urgently to the vet.

“Aoife, the vet says to take the saddle off if you can. He says to make her as comfortable as you can until he can come over.” Amy advised.

Taking the advice, Aoife and Georgia gently eased the saddle off Lola’s back and switched her bridle for the headcollar. When she was more comfortable, the problem was slightly more obvious. Lola now tried to get back up but was unable to due to her front tendon. It appeared to be inflamed and looked slightly bowed. Tendonitis. The team came to the same conclusion at once.

“Looks like we can’t catch a break, hey girl,” Aoife said bleakly to her horse.

“Don’t worry Aoife, it doesn’t look too bad. I’ve seen horses recover from much worse tendon injuries. It will probably just be box rest, ice boots and light exercise for a few weeks.” Amy said.

“Yeah I agree. The tendon is slightly hot and inflamed, but not much more.” Georgia said, “It is probably just a slight strain she got from galloping suddenly then rolling. It may have twisted when she fell awkwardly.”

This thought relaxed Aoife slightly, but only just. She didn’t want her horse to be in any kind of pain and this was all her fault.

“Why didn’t I just leave her alone!” Aoife cried. “I shouldn’t have pushed her to carry me!”

“Hey, don’t say that! It wasn’t your fault! These things just happen sometimes.” Amy soothed her best friend. “Remember – she is a wild horse at heart. You two have an incredible bond, but sometimes things happen that you could never predict. Like this.”

Amy was right. Sometimes things did just go wrong. And this was one of those times. The vet did come round and gave the same prognosis that Amy had. Lola would have to be on box rest for three weeks and have ice boots on nearly full time for the first week. After that she would have to be lightly exercised in hand.

It was a huge setback in the team’s training schedule, but they were all relieved that the injuries weren't too extensive.
