I absolutely love this!! This is my audition piece for EquineGraphix! I'm super happy with it and I hope the group likes it too!I struggled a bit with the theme of 'culture', so I hope this shows Irish culture enough :L
The themes in it are:
connemara type pony - native to Ireland
rainbow was supposed to be like leprechauns and rainbow idek
but it looks cute hahared deer: native to Ireland
Shamrocks: shamrocks are a symbol of St. Patrick and were once used to explain the Holy Trinity
Celtic cross: links to Irish religion and Celtic culture
This came together so so nicely! It's the first manip thats really flowed for me in a long time and I really really enjoyed making it. The horse is just so pretty!
I don't really know what happened with the hair here - I didn't follow my usual style, so it's a bit messy, but hopefully that just adds to the native look of the pony!please download to see extra detail!

I like this. No, correction, I love this!!! I love the colors in it and how much time and effort you have put into this. But, however, I'm not too fond of the tail... But it adds uniqueness to it. Vision:
This got 5 stars because in every part of this piece I can see how invested you were! You paid great attention to detail (the clover!) and the color (which to me is a large part of an overall piece) pops fantastically. I very much get a lush fields of Ireland feel from this.
Originality:
I think you have some really unique components here that come across well and clearly, like the marking on the horse's hindquarters and the rainbow in the back. I marked this a bit lower than your others just because the center-composition standing horse in a field/forest with the deer in the back is not as visually "new" as some other poses and compositions or other aspects of this work. Technique:
Overall you have done some amazing things here. The deer is well integrated and you've created a great focus in this piece. You've got wonderful detailing, lighting, and hair painting, which are some of the hardest parts. The horse's detailing and lighting and grounding are all well done, too. Things I would suggest working on:
-When detailing, there can be some veiny parts (See the legs) that can be worked with so it doesn't look so harsh and like a raw photo.
-Lion tails are really tough! Try to think about the angles when making these. Usually really sharp bends and angles like some of the ones you have here are too severe for a bone to bend that way and real tails have more gradual slopes. Try also using the patch tool to draw coat texture directly from the coat to blend best.
-Don't forget mane shadows!
-Background elements like the rainbow don't necessarily need to be as bright, they can draw from the focus.
Impact:
