Description
So Gol wasn't the way to go after all, eh Spock?Yes, I'm drawing a lot of Star Trek stuff these days.
Yes, I'm still working on other things, as well.
... in theory...
Started out as a random sketch; evolved into a finished picture; evolved some more when I redrew Spock; is here now for you to look at.
Spock (C) G. Roddenberry.

I really like this. I haven't seen The Motion Picture yet, so I looked on Memory Alpha(The Star Trek Wiki) for information on Gol, and there wasn't much.
Anyway, yeah, from what I saw, he wouldn't have much to eat, considering it IS Vulcan, and Gol is desert, from what I do know.
I really like this. I like your comics, but this stood out when I visited your gallery. I have a weak spot for pictures like this, so yeah. >,>
Spock's face, along with his general appearance, conveys an emotion of almost-helplessness. He doesn't know where his next meal will be, if he even gets one. There is nothing to see but desert.
I have to say, Spock with long hair is kinda hot, though. >,> *Is detracting from the serious vibe of the comment*

Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
Naw, it doesn't matter if you slip from the serious vibe - what you say is quite true. Yay long hair!

Well I bet he is, I don't think there's much more to eat at Gol than rocks and sand...

how did i miss this?!? i love the subject matter... spock and gol is one of my fave topics of discussion.
anyway, i love how you did his hair... and you get points for remembering he has chest hair lots of artists forget that... his build seems a tad slight though, and his features aren't quite right... i know you're not going for an exact replica, but it may be wise to more closely mimic nimoy's ears. those are part of what makes spock unique, and are one of the things i always look at. it bothered me in some of the movies, where the makeup department didn't keep them consistent... it made him not look like himself
his facial features are good though... i like his expression, and especially the eyes
out of curiosity, why don't you want to draw the characters as exact replicas of the actors?

I'll need to study his ears, then.
Why not replicas? Well... Say I want to draw Spock in a pink tutu and glossy lipstick (no idea why I would, but let's suppose for argument's sake ). Now... what I don't want is to draw Nimoy in a pink tutu. And if I drew Spock looking like, well, Nimoy, then I would quite inevitably draw Nimoy in pink ballet garment. I don't know, it just wouldn't feel right somehow.
If I wanted to draw a portrait it would be different; I'd probably go for realism. But when it comes to random scenes and pictures, I like to detach the characters from the actors.
I dunno, maybe I need to get meself a backbone or something, but that's how I feel. My mind can change, of course, but I'm not counting on that.

ahh... so, shall i be expecting any randomness like that in the near future
mm...well, there's nothing at all wrong with originality

*feels a strange urge to draw Spock in a pink tutu and Kirk in glittery ballet tights*
O_o
