More about this artwork and all my other stuff on SpaceLolliPopArts.com !3D (Anaglyph) VERSION:
UPDATED VERSION:
INTERACTIVE FLASH of this robot:
This is a digital interpretation of my diploma thesis at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin.
Here I developed a fluorescence detector to read out special chips with thousands of tiny reaction vessels.
Well, the real ChipReader looks a little bit different than the one above but it works in the same way.
Hope you like it!
There is also an overview of the workflow:

This is so cool!
Definately one of the more unique robotic pieces I've seen.
Great work, congrats on the DD!

Firstly, I don't know exactly what a β¬ is currency-wise. (Sorry, I'm poorly-travelled)
Secondly, I got 40 bucks to my name, going towards other things, sorry.

Beautiful work! There is just one thing that bothers me. The person looks like a complete android, but then there are the dreads coming from underneath the plastic...

AIIIum In reply to Bergie81 [2010-01-15 04:52:35 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, on the back of the head... The brown stuff? looks like dreads or braids. Maybe it's something else?

Bergie81 In reply to AIIIum [2010-01-15 12:06:21 +0000 UTC]
No
he neither listens to reggae music nor smokes any dope.
These "dreads" are only data links...
π: 0 β©: 1
AIIIum In reply to Bergie81 [2010-01-16 19:30:51 +0000 UTC]
Well, you never know what he sends through them ; )
The color on the links is different from anything else in the picture, so I kept wondering what's so special about them. If you say they are just links, that's cool.
Awesome render (^^)

Jeze, I am the general teckie of my group for the most part, and I can hardly understand what you are saying! XD
From what I read simplified, florecent lights trigger soemthing inside your brain. XD

hahaha
I didnt want to bore you with uninteresting details.... thats why i have written this very short summary of the technical background.
I think this site is more about art than discussing technical concepts.
but when you are interested, i would give you a more detailed introduction of this robot.
You dont really think that i have put any brain in a robot to fire off some laser light, do you??

Anyhow, this artwork realy is amazing. Sorry I did not includ that in my last post.
Everthing about it is realy well done! I don't know how to cretique it!

I've already told the dude a few comments below this, that i didnt want to bore the visitors with details. you think there should be more information?
π: 0 β©: 1
blwhere In reply to Bergie81 [2010-01-12 03:51:47 +0000 UTC]
ah, no, it's just that some of your visitors, (like me), have a hard time understanding some of the things you said. i don't know how to say this, but maybe if you said it to where a child can understand it, it'll be like, "oohhh, okay, i get it now."
i'm sorry if you are mad at me for saying that i didn't understand your comments on it, but i really didn't... i got some of it, and then i just went blank.
i really do like the picture though.

Very nice! I don't know how you have time for this kind of stuff while working in the sciences. I'm just an undergrad in biochemistry and I never have time to work on these things anymore. Frankly, I'm impressed.

indeed,
this art was created in a period of pipetting one assay after the other. Very monotonous. building this baby was the only chance to be creative...
and by the way at the end of the academic studies you have more freetime than in the first semesters!
