Description
I cut my back up so much retaking this photo. In the end it didn't turn out how I wanted but I'm still really pleased with it!I had a lot of help critiquing it from my friend Mimi [link] . Thank you so much for giving me your time!

Love the concept and the restricted use of colours. Maybe a ever so slightly different composition would have been better but as it's a self portrait I understand how difficult that it. I have to close by saying - wow nice stomach! (I have an obsession with flat and hairless stomachs on men lol)

Hahaha, thank you, Love!
I do agree about the composition. It was so hard to take, I had to get up from the sticks and hit the self timer button and the such. I think the scratches might have been the worse part. I retook the photo a few times but didn't even come close to this shot.
That you for taking the time to comment!

I've had the same sort of problem many times - you have an image in your head of what you want the photo to look like but it's so hard to achieve when you're not behind the lense. Giving thew camera to someone else and trying to describe what you want doesn't really work either.

I like this one a lot quite symbolic and the balloon is a pretty nice touch I like the setting of harsh and Fragile. It is a good piece.

This is probably the most fascinating picture I've seen. I don't know why, but it just is.
I really can't imagine lying like that for any length of time though. Ouch.
This is an excellent picture, probably my favorite of your work.

The best part of this is the strong clashing colors,
it really draws attention there immediately and boldly.
Secondly, not to sound perverted,
but I love the focus on his manlyhood, haha,
it too is bold and exciting to see.

A prophesy of a red balloon … a really cool shot.
Technically I think this shot is good balanced in tone but what makes this a super-super shot is the vulnerability you and balloon shares with the thorns and spikes … and then the color for the balloon is so symbolic, red is not just the color of anger but also color of weakness, for we bleed red.

Love the selective coloring. I usually prefer the person to be in color, but it works in the photo. Good job!

I like heavy contrast on your latest shots...Diagonal setting is also a smart idea for perspective!...

I really hope you're as happy with the picture as I am, because it freakin' rocks. Sacrifice in the name of art, I say. Seriously, the jaggedness of the flora mixed with the vulnerability of your naked body and a single balloon make for an amazing piece. Grats, dude.

Thank you! Your comment makes me really abashed. I love skimming through the comments people made and finding a critique as well. I'm surprisingly happy with this photo even though it didn't come out how I would have liked it. I'm such a perfectionist that letting this photo slip through and still loving it to death is strange to me.
I think when I was making the final decision to pick a photo for it, I fell in love with this shot because it was just such an interesting pose and the bits of light leaking through some near by tree branches really drew me into it.

This reminds me of the movie "The Red Balloon".
I've always loved that short movie.
Congratulations on the big 30K.

I've never seen it but i heard the song 99 Red Balloons (I think that's the title).
And thank you, love!

I love that song. ^_^
The Red Balloon is really old. It was made in the 50's in France (Le Ballon rouge). It's about a little boy whose best friend is a red balloon. He is a loner and all the other boys pick on him. The cruel boys taunted him and eventually his red balloon was no more. The boy was sad. Then, from all around. Hundreds of balloons descended down to the boy. The boy was happy.

It almost looks like you and the balloon are stuck in a tree.. It's a really great photo.. Sorry to hear about your back. Ice.. lots and lots of nice cold ice.. Once i got a big cut on my back and a friend decided she would give me a massage with some cherry flavored massage oil.. It burned like hell... but my back tasted like cherries for weeks. the end.

It's hardly my old style. My old style was more grainy and dark. This has light. Highlights, midtones, lowtones, texture and a lot of time put into it. The only thing this has to do with my old shots is that I'm missing a few articles of clothing.
