Description
I learned this shading style when I was watching Falvie draw when i was at her place last summer c:I'm pretty confident you could use this style of shading on any art program.

You can try the GIMP. That's a pretty good freeware program to use.

Oohh. Hmm. Well this shading style doesn't necessarily need SAI. SAI 's pretty basic for art programs. All you need is layers and to be able to put it on multiply.

I understand, which is why I tried it on Sketchbook Pro. It actually worked pretty well, I just had to experiment a lot before I got a system going [link]
Thanks for introducing me to this style, it's really awesome

But only now do I realize I did it inverted, making light gradients on the dark part instead of vise versa.
Oh well.

Yay it's in SAI! lol
Thanks a lot Becca, I've been trying to figure out SAI and start some digital work so this will help with shading c:
Btw, what are some average canvas sizes you use for digital work? I don't want mine to be too small and look pixely or too big and be a huge file size so I have no idea what a good digital drawing canvas size is xD

bingles In reply to FoxfurNeo [2012-07-10 04:21:40 +0000 UTC]
i usually start with 4500x4500

Thanks for the info ^^

bingles In reply to FoxfurNeo [2012-07-10 06:11:04 +0000 UTC]
lol that is the resolution? 4500px by 4500px
300dpi?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FoxfurNeo In reply to bingles [2012-07-10 18:23:43 +0000 UTC]
The pixels is the resolution in terms of dimensions, I mean the resolution as in how many of them per square inch or whatever so yeah, dpi I guess xD Thanks again Becca! lolz

ahh yes, that doesn't really come into play unless you're printing stuff.

FoxfurNeo In reply to bingles [2012-07-11 00:23:54 +0000 UTC]
Ohrly? Well I still would like to make them printable so I can eventually get prints so I can hang them on my wall (Since you can't exactly hang the original when it's digital xD) And maybe one day sell them at cons and such I have had some people around here commissioning me lately lol
So should I just stick basically with the dimensions and dpi you said before? lol
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
bingles In reply to FoxfurNeo [2012-07-11 00:46:56 +0000 UTC]
stick with 300dpi, and highest resolution possible
