Description
" Dogs vs Wolves" for Speedy du Jour at60 Minutes
Under normal circumstances I don't paint canines, and so when I need to, I fall on the almighty backup plan, known as stock photos. Considering I need to get it right enough to differentiate between a wolf and a dog, it was even more essential. Because, left to my own devices, my dogs risk looking like cats. Or horses.
My first instinct would be to paint puppies. They are to art contests what biological warfare is to weaponry. In my meandering search for references though, I came across this rather miffed looking grey wolf, and fell for the idea of taking that and pushing it a bit further with a more appropriate pallet and some angryfying details. The rough painting effect my corel painter blender brush makes also seemed a nice fit for that scruffed and ruffed look. But I do believe I still don't have a proper fur brush...
With a bit more time I would have worked on making some finer hair details, but when the time runs out, it runs out

Wow, only 1 hour. This is amazing. It would take me all day to do this. I do so admire speedpainters. I love his piercing eyes. It looks like he's watching someone without them knowing.

Thank you for saying this Speedpaintings is just a matter of practice, getting to put down stuff more efficiently and quicker. Spend a year or so on it and I'm sure you could do it

Thank you. When I started speed painting what I got wasn't that far from blobs either. It's just sheer necessity that has gotten me this far
