Description "If you knew how beautiful she was... when she let me kiss her...alive...It was the first...time, daroga, the first...time I ever kissed a woman.... Yes, alive....I kissed her alive ...and she looked as beautiful as if she had been dead!"

--Erik, The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

nice pic, Bix. it really captures the last part of the book, which none of the film version seem not to have that scene. but whatever it's really nice

I love it, love it...

...is it so wrong to want to plummet Christine for going with Raoul?

Haha, most of the fandom would agree with you, I think! I, personally, think she needed to get away from both of them and run for Sweden by herself, but there is STILL (obviously) that part of me that was touched by the ghost's love story :} I just have this bizarre weakness for horrifically ugly men/creatures and pretty ladies XD

Right. At least when you actually know the Phantom of the Opera. It's shame that people watch the 04 version, get arrogant, and think they're Phantom Savvy.

Biskuits In reply to GregorytheImpaler [2008-03-12 18:37:38 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yeah, but they get so caught up in the romance, I think, and sorta fail to see the much darker things going on (such as the fact that Erik is, like, ten kinds of batshit crazy XD). I could go on, but I sense that it would be old hat to you ;}

How come I didn't find that masterpiece before ??

Simply wow !

I'm a big fan of Leroux's book and your Erik really answers the description of Corpsey !

Except that Leroux!Erik is supposed to have 3 or 4 dark brown hair locks and not a white hair crown. But that's because I'm really really touchy, your piece of art is simply awesome !

Biskuits In reply to RipperBlackstaff [2007-12-15 21:43:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I'm well aware of the hair discrepancy; I've been changing it in my newest stuff, actually. Just gotta ease into the character by starting with familiar (I don't draw many hairless fellows, you know XD).

Very glad you like it! You probably didn't see it before because it hasn't been on here for too long ;} Thanks for commenting!

I love Christine's wedding dress. I also like how you actually made Erik look kind of creepy and repulsive. He's supposed to be, but the most I see are really easy on the eyes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Biskuits In reply to phantomdeviant [2007-12-12 17:24:15 +0000 UTC]

Haha, blame the film XD I prefer corpsey, crazy Leroux Erik; I don't have a lot of sympathy for a 30-something beefcake with what looks to be herpes on a small portion of his face XD ...no, actually, if it were really herpes, I'd feel really bad for him XD

I can't believe I haven't commented on this yet. There are so many deviations that try to capture this moment but your is the first one that really nailed it in my opinion. I especially love Erik's hunched back and how you didn't do anything to make him look less ugly. And don't even get me started on the tears! I'm not big on romance but this...wow

Beautiful work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Biskuits In reply to F-warp [2007-11-20 20:50:27 +0000 UTC]

;__; Awww, thanks man! Seriously, this scene in the book had me dissolved in some seriously soft, womanly tears from my soft, womanly heart. Erik's ugliness--both physically and spiritually, for lack of a better word--and redemption is absolutely fascinating, and I dislike it when either of them are downplayed. It just really cheapens it, in my opinion. Thanks so much for the sweet comment; I'm quite glad you like it and that it meets with your approval.

P.S. His bizarre figure and hunched back are my favorite things about it XD <3

The film is lame and overdone; I would suggest reading the book, which made me cry (and I don't cry often XD) <3 It's available to read online; Iknow I posted the link a couple of places in the comments already--I could find it for you, if you want ;}

Thanks so much!
