Description
Long exposure shot, with minimal postwork (Basically only slight light/contrast and slight crop, usm) I've submitted a couple of times from this area before, but this is a little different. This is an old lighthouse area, and in the past the buildings you see in the picture were used for accommodation by the men that were stationed there.Related content

Amazing. The bright spot of light in the center accents it well. Perfect time to shoot for the location.

Atmospheric shot...just the way I've come to expect from you!
Beautifully composed with layers of smooth water, stark coastline and a lovely gradient in the sky.
The reflection of the light on the water from the lamp that illuminates the house is just one small detail of this highly detailed photo, that I've fallen in love with.
This photo showcases you photographic talent and there is nothing here that could be improved. I'd give this a 10 out of 10!

A very beautiful shot you've taken here. Was this a base? Or just a guarded port? Either way you captured it perfectly, as usual. Great capturing of that twilight sky.
Keep it up

It was a civilian installation, built in 1873 and 3 men were running and doing maintenance on the lighthouse. The lighthouse was automated in 1975, and today there is no one living there, but one of the houses is available for tourists etc.
Thanks

That's a nice compliment, thank you. I'm not very good at whoring my images I think, but yes I hope it gets as much attention as it can, it's one of my better photos in my own opinion.

This is such a cool scene. The long exposure element really worked well on the sea. I love the small buildings and light, it give it focus. The colours are excellent too.

bkm In reply to aquapell [2004-10-03 15:24:32 +0000 UTC]
I'm glad you like it man! The image looks extra smooth because of the long exposure on the calm but moving water. The original had very little noise, but I removed a little of it. But unlike "Photophilous Night" which I deliberately smoothed out to make the clouds look fluffy, I only removed the noise in this one to make sure it ended up as close to the original capture as possible.

wonderful shot! my shots become so noisy after even a couple of secondes that i don't usually even attempt a long exposer.

Feels like I could sit here for hours.
Love the warm colour of the sky, just before day gives way to night.
Are those tiny stars up there too?
