I wanted to add more details and some more tips, but it was getting kind long : S oh well...

you just set the visibility to only the layer you want to save and save it as a jpeg or a png (as you would save any sai creation), you have to do it for every single one. 34 down, 25 more to go :'-|

Sai is mainly for drawing and painting. You need photoshop or adobe flash cs6 for legit animation. But at iaza. Com you can also do frame animationsv[link] (just not as fancy..)

I just did work with gimp once, but since you can create new layers and change their opacitys it shouldn't be a problem.

I believe it's quite easy in GIMP because you can just have the layers and save as a gif, it'll give you an option to make it an animation. Set the fps, and you're done!

No problem. Simply open up the layers window. (Under windows.) It'll show you your layers. Every time you want a new frame in the animation, make a new layer. Draw the new drawing in that one. You can do as she mentioned and lower opacity so you can see where you've drawn before. That'll make it easier to draw a whole new picture.(Or, if you want, you can select all of the last drawing, then go under file and hit "paste as new layer." That'll make whatever you copied into a new layer.)
The eyeball next to the layer in the window indicates that it's made visible. Make sure you don't have a layer visible that's above the one you want to work on, or else you will see the top layer only, and won't see the one you want! Also, the one selected is the layer you're working on. You can select a layer you can't see and accidentally draw on it, which could be useful if you want to be exact, but could also ruin an image by you drawing all over it accidentally. Careful!
Anyway, when you've done all the layers you want to, go to save as. Save it as a GIF. It'll say that you can't do that unless you either merge your layers or make an animation. Make an animation. 
Oh, and remember than animations more then 150X150 pixels if uploaded to DeviantART, need preview images.

x3 that's soo awesome!! Thank you for show the process out! I've been wanting to try out gifs like those, but they seemed really intimidating and tedious to do with having to go back and fourth between PS and SAI, but the way you explained it made it seem not as hard as I made it out to be.
