Description
In the world of the Caugas incident most fights between the British army and the Caugas military are shootouts but on occasion where push comes to shove the islanders from the 21th century were no pushovers when it came to melee fighting. They had a large range of weapons from crude clubs to homemade tasers. In the Caugas military all bladed weapons are supposed to be painted with a Matte black coating on the blade this can be done with a little pay by army armorers.
1. Daga machetes : The daga machete is very popular in Puerto Rico the most common one has a classic panga style blade. Compact for portability, yet possessing a weighted fore-blade for chopping, this is a versatile machete is useful as a very effective chopping tool and weapon. The name daga is a general name for short machetes in Puerto Rico Here in the drawing are two of the most common type, type A the panga style machete and Type B the straight saber type These short machetes were the first melee weapon many citizen soldiers of Caugas and the army cadets. Some times the curved tip of the panga would be cut down to make it more easy to stab with it ,such modification were common with personal machetes in all ranks. These machetes were made by various companies like Tramotina, Imasacas and tres canales and later in the war, the machetes blades were made more thicker. The Daga became legendary with it use by the Puerto Ricans as the kukri was with the Gurkha and many people tried to get a original after the war. The Daga was also the reason why the British army called them savage butchers.
2. cut down Pattern 1907 sword bayonet: With the many arms raids on RIC and army barracks for weapons, a surplus of bayonets came into the town of Caugas. These bayonets were offend cut down to a more shorter size and were made into fighting knives, the one pictured here was cut down to a tanto knife type point. Many of them went to family members of solders who used as utility knives to crack open coconuts or to cut large pieces of meat from the Lechón at Christmas. Not all these bayonets were not necessarily British made as German and french bayonet appeared as well in the town, one can still find these at a fair price.
3. Butcher/ kitchen knives: Cheap and common they were the to go weapon for many amateur terrorists and mugger in the 21th century. These knives were one of the first weapon many had for hand to hand fighting in the early days of the Caugas incident. in the first raids for weapons the melee fights in the RIC barracks. the use of these knives along with the Daga machetes were so fierce in raids the security forces called them savage butchers.
4. Trench knives: These knives were homemade by the individual solder or custom made by blacksmiths. The knives varied in appearance some looking very crude in construction while some looked like prop out of a diesel punk movie. Many of these knives became family heirlooms.
5. Fair-bairn–Sykes fighting knife copy: This British design dagger is popular with the special forces in the Caugas military and was given as part of the famous "guerilla starter kit" to under equipped IRA units these daggers were made professionally or homemade, some of these daggers were used by regular soldiers as well.
6. "Pugio"lock back folding knife: This pocket knife is something of a mystery and is not truly know who made it first or if it came from the future or the past. But it seems to be a cross between old J. A. Henckels pocket knife in design and a Mercator K55K construction. But what is know is that the knife first appeared after the Germans settled in the town of Caugas and the surrounding areas/mountains. The knife was sold cheaply in many shops and it quickly became popular knife in the town and in most of Ireland due to it being well made and having a strong lock. The pugio was not issued to the regular army or cadets but were privately purchased these knives for their own use. They were as well many cheap knockoffs of the knife witch made it to have reputation similar to the okapi knife in Jamaica as the "Saturday night special" of knives do to its use by delinquent youths and criminals because of its 4 inch blade. It is still made today in the town of Caugas and exported to other counties.
7. Hitler Youth style scout knife: This type of knife was not very common in the town of Caugas or even in Puerto Rico before the flash but a originals or replicas of one or its post war model could be found on occasion if one was lucky. It was noticed that copies or originals of the knife began to appear in the army cadets, rather cringe worthy it was discovered to be very popular with the Jewish German cadets. The knife was modified from the original by replacing the diamond with the swastika with one that has the star of David. These knives were made by ex knife makers from solingen. After the war they were officially appointed by the Na Fianna Éireann.
8. Boot knife: Boot knives were a fairly common knife in the town of Caugas and could be bought in some stores or could be made from a blade blank kit.
9. French nail: A crude but effective weapon it was made by blacksmiths or by the soldiers themselves, there is one model that has the same function as a Japanese Jitte baton, to break swords but has a blade.
10. Homemade stiletto dagger: The stilettos were made from ice picks or homemade it a common homemade weapon the early raids and was in use until the end of the war.
11. nahkampfmesser trench knife: This knife was a common with the German Jewish cadets as with the HY style knife as most of there male family members were soldiers that survived the war had them. Originals and copies became fairly popular with the army and the cadets.
12. Trench club/macana: A mostly homemade weapon they could be made on the spot from pick axe handles and baseball bats or tropical wood very useful to beat the hell of out of a enemy sentry The Puerto Ricans called them macanas and sometimes carve taino symbols on them.
13. Blackjack/sap: Shorter than the trench club, the blackjack has a lead weighted head and his made from stitched or braided leather, para cord. Some were hand made but they were mostly privately bought by soldiers, it was used by city based IRA because it was easy to hide and a cheap way to get a knot on the back of the head.
14. Homemade stun gun: If the soldier knew how to make one he could use it. A very popular weapon if you don,t want to kill anyone it was very intimidating with is loud electrical buzz and sting.
15. Brass knuckles: A very common weapon in the town of Caugas as they were legal before the flash. Found in many soldiers possession as a personal idem, can be homemade or bought made from metal and wood, can give a nasty injury with it.
NOTE: I apologized for the quality of the drawing i was in a little bit of a hurry.
