Dismounting when they neared the logs, Aenor let out a deep sigh and walked over to Atgeirr who was still battling with the chains. They were wrapped around his neck, cutting into his flesh. "Atgeirr... sweetheart... stop... you'll only hurt yourself...." She placed her hand at his shoulder and stroked his neck. The stallion lowered his head, defeat written all over his face. "Next time, Atgeirr... next time..." She placed a kiss on his snout and freed him from the chains. A last pat on his neck and she went to help Farah with securing the chains on Synne's saddle before adding the chains to Haegi's saddle. This was part of their daily work, the easiest part for them. Motioning Atgeirr to follow them, she took the reins of Haegi and led the mare along the path, always watching out for Farah and Synne.

Synne was not a lightweight anymore, her body muscled now thanks to her regular exploration trips. But with the course and its obstacles behind them, she was tired and pulling a log along the muddy path did not exactly look appealing to her. And still, she went along, following the lead of Haegi, her human by her side. Atgeirr followed them and it was hard to miss that he was disappointed. Something Synne couldn't really understand. He managed the course on his own, had come through without hurting himself and if not for the missing tack, he would've been able to finish the course completely alone. Synne admired his courage and wondered once more how Gunr was doing. When she looked up once more, she could see the finish line. As well as Gunr and Kerki. Synne let out a greeting neigh and sped up, hastening her steps. Shaking herself as Farah removed the chains from her, she walked up to Gunr and rubbed her head against his in greeting before peeking into the direction of his gaze. With her head tilted to the side, she tried to figure out what was in front of them, bodies moving in the mud.

Farah helped Aenor with the chains and logs once they all were over the finish line. "Thank you so much for helping me with the course!" Aenor just smiled and shook her head. "My pleasure!" Walking towards Kerki, Gunr, Synne and Atgeirr, Aenor frowned. The horses seemed fascinated by something in front of them. "What the...?" Following their gazes, Aenor laughed as soon as she recognized the two bodies wrestling in the mud. It seemed like Vol and Vjarven had decided to battle out the mud skirmish their own way. Aenor chuckled when Farah joined her and wrapped her arm around the shoulder of the other woman. “Seems like they found a way to kill some time while waiting for us.” Farah nodded and grinned. “Maybe we can talk them into a shower and a celebration afterwards. Mead sounds about right now!” Upon the mention of mead, both Vjarven’s and Vol’s head shot up as if they were only now realizing that they were not longer alone. “Mead?” It was as if they were talking with one voice. Farah walked towards them and got down on her hunches in front of them. “Yes… mead… but first… shower!” She chuckled and got up again before her beloved husband Vjarven could pull her down into the mud to give her another reason for a hot shower.

The mud skirmish had come to an end for them and in hindsight, Farah was glad she participated together with Aenor. She had gathered a bunch of new experiences that helped both her development and that of Synne as well. She had a feeling her mare found more confidence during the course, even though the last two obstacles were something she despised. Watching Aenor and Haegi, their bond, their way of working together, it gave her something to work towards, something she wanted to achieve together with Synne. And maybe, only maybe, she’d race together with Vjarven and Gunr next time.
