Well the real unsettling thing about Maxi is that nobody knows the limits of his knowledge, combined with the capacity he has to act on anything he knows. If he did deliberately cause the war that blew up the Earth, then he might have just used Death to get himself out of a corner. . .

The baby name book my parents had said Maximillian means "most excellent." But, would not "greatest" mean that it's as great/excellent as it gets? They're the exact same thing; your source just interpreted it differently. (Foreign words seldom translate on one concrete path. ) I prefer looking at it as "Most Excellent," if only for the Bill and Ted reference though.

So we have reason to suspect he'd rather his Hellspawn body than the old one he sported before and set the whole thing up to get just a bit more power?

Fair enough, but I haven't seen Bill and Ted, so I can't really be faulted for passing up "most excellent".

Well, the only characters in Magna-Core that interact with the realm of the living, while still ever receive direct contact from The Creator are Telos and Solet, who were created with Reborn Earth. We can assume that Maxi didn't have any way to know for sure that anybody'd become a Hellspawn. If he did indeed bring about the world's end, who knows what he did it for? Maybe he did it to die while still on top of the world, to keep things frozen in history exactly the way he likes it?

What's the point of freezing history if you destroy it at the same time? It seems so inefficient. Maybe he simply followed reasoning to get a basic idea of how The Creator acts and tried to force his hand into acting against him, making him the man that disturbed a god.

Because if the world ends then other observers, be it from other civilizations or even just the supernatural, would forever associate the planet with the state it was in when it ended. That's how history would "freeze" at that spot.

But this is all trivial, as the story is about Reborn Earth, not the exact history of the planet before it. That'd be a can of worms, so I'll just leave it to readers' imaginations.

Indeed. As I said, nobody knows what Maxi did and didn't know. He may not have even done it. Everything is mere speculation.
