Description Art trade with . I requested a drawing of her favorite character from ~Magna-Core She wanted to see a sword fight between her character, Ariel Starknight, and somebody from M-C. It could be any character, at any point in the fight, and it wouldn't matter who was winning.

I picked Jason to give her a fight, because they both seem to fit the "growing hero" archetype. (Ya know, the kind where a teenager goes out to make a name for himself/herself, armed with nothing more than the equipment on their back and a little determination. )

Screentoned for a change of pace, and because I didn't like how my normal CG style was turning out for this one.

It looks awesome, Blanke! I love it! XD Ah, it makes me feel good to see Ariel again. I haven't drawn her myself in ages. o_o

The outfit you gave her is fitting, too. <3

And Hellzyes Jason vs. Ariel. XD The fanfiction for this would come out like a perfect cake.. hm.. this inspires me.. >> <<

Let's do this again sometime. XD

Ah, I was sitting on pins and needles waiting to see what you'd think of this. XD I'm glad you like it. I was going to do Skye VS Ariel at first, but then I figured she's too nice to make anything interesting happen.

Yeah, I noticed you didn't have a lot of references of her. The only thing I really used was "The Things I Do for Money", and then I used my Blanke-sense to fill in the blanks.

I'll be looking forward to that next trade. Maybe we can do another one over spring break, whenever that comes up.

Yeah, I really need to draw her more. >_o;

Ariel: ~dead~ DX

Spring break sounds like a good plan. XD I'll think of something challenging and detailed for you to do until then. Do the same for me. ;D

A good action scene. The colors on each side give it a great balance. Excellent.

I love the action going on here and the blue/red duelling colors. How do you do the speed lines though? I've always wanted to give it a shot myself. Anyways, keep up the good work. This looks awesome.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

As for the speedlines, I actually learned how to do this from a tutorial site that is now dead, but, here's how it goes:
1. Press Z or R twice.
2. Grab yourself a speedline texture like this one. [link]
3. Use the Polar Coordinates filter on those speedlines, and go "Rectangular to Polar" (Make sure the texture takes up the entire screen, or else you'll get a weird spirally mess. )
4. Scale to size and position. Apply blending modes for flavor.
