Description An AM-222A unmanned-combat-walker of the Brazilian Army 12th Aeromobile Brigade stands guard atop an abandoned favela house somewhere in Rio de Janeiro. This unit is one of many air-dropped at night by helicopters in an effort to reinstate order.
---
"As of 2044, it is estimated 22% of the entire population of Brazil resides in its favelas located outside cities and farmland. Crime and drug-trafficking runs rampant in these vast slums, to the point where the Brazilian government and police can no longer control and enforce the law. In order to combat this, the elite 12th Aeromobile Brigade of the Brazilian Army 2nd Division has been deployed to the largest favelas in hopes to bring back law and order to the nation, however bribery and corruption have proven to be troublesome in completing this mission."

You and me both, man.

I also want to see a game like Mirror's Edge where you jump from favela to favela in Cyberpunk Brazil to run away from the polícia.

Or perhaps a game that's essentially Akira set in Brazil, where you have a motorcycle and have to weave between buildings, alleyways, and vehicles in the streets of Neo São Paulo: www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7yfFD…

At first I thought this was urban warfare between militaries, but if it WAS and that tank/walker was there standing guard, a soldier could easily try and sneak into the basement of the building, blow the foundations and let the machine fall.

Pretty cool concept tho! Always like these mecha!

Dude, I worked on a constructions sites, so I know that.Eeven if it was made of aluminum, it would still hit basement in this bilding. I would rather add some element that makes the bot seem to levitate slightly above not leaning on the roof. No malice intendend I just wanted to be helptfull.

So question whats the advantage to using a walker? Unless you have extremely extensive hardkill/softkill stsyems they seem extremely easy to disable and have a massive blindspot underneath. In urban warfare someone in a sewer drain or under a man hole could easily ambush one. Looks awsome though. Keep up the awsome work.

BlastWaves In reply to Chinevion [2017-11-26 23:53:49 +0000 UTC]

I can't think of many, mechs in general are 99% rule of cool designs. I feel like this particular one would function well combined with infantry support though (as it'd be primarily fighting poorly equipped drug cartels and rebels.) Perhaps it's advantage in these condensed favelas is that it can climb up abandoned buildings and go where tanks or wheeled vehicles can't.

Beautiful work! Such fine, pixely details! You know what really impresses me though? That a hastily constructed cinderblock shack in the slums can support the weight of a massive armored war machine!

But honestly, this is super cool and I hope to see more!

amazing desing you got there, i would like to know the purpose of the autocannon turret, looks capable of shooting down helos and other low fliying aircraft, or even incoming missiles, like a ship mounted CIWS

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BlastWaves In reply to Curcanartgallery [2017-11-20 23:52:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

The auto-cannon I sort of added as an after-thought, but I imagine its main purpose is to provide perimeter defense against other vehicles/mechs like an RCWS, as the turret would probably rotate rather slowly. I could totally see it shooting down low flying helicopters or missiles though, I did base it on a CIWS.

Nicely depicted.  However, unless the tank is made of tin and wood, it's going to crash through the roof to the basement.  ^_*  Love the folige.

BlastWaves In reply to Kitsuchan59 [2017-11-21 00:12:43 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

Maybe that's the real reason the Brazilian army is having trouble restoring order to the Favelas, their mechs keep falling through the roofs of the houses.

Flying-Snake In reply to Kitsuchan59 [2017-11-20 08:14:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, thet is general problem with all walking designs.
And one reason why we are never going to see giant walking tanks.

Thanks! The mech design actually started as my personal take on what I think a South American/less high-tech knockoff Tachikoma would look like, seeing as how mechs at this point would probably be operated and built by nations around the world.

DragonStrider In reply to BlastWaves [2017-11-21 12:38:43 +0000 UTC]

mcnipples [2017-11-18 22:40:33 +0000 UTC]

tbh, if you called it 12th light infantry brigade it would be on point to its closest real life counter-part, but in reality the chance of this São Paulo stationed unit going to Rio for peacekeeping is unlikelly possible, would be more believable if it was the 1st paratrooper brigade, BUT this looks and is writen extremely well nonetheless, congrats

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BlastWaves In reply to mcnipples [2017-11-21 00:05:31 +0000 UTC]

Ahh damn, from what I could find of it, the 12th Aeromobile Brigade's operation area covers the whole country, but you're right I should probably have made it the 1st Paratrooper Brigade.

Thanks by the way!
