Description I still have a bunch of 3399/3400 scenes I need to post, so here's one of them.

Two Osthmoorian Republic "Sentinel" guardsmen inspect the area around theΒ Srihell woodlands, on Motrone 32C,Β Leuten.

In this scene, some Osthmoorian Sentinel guards basically take a look around the totally-not-madagascar environment on one of the planets in the newly obtained Leuten system. This was basically a scene created with the sole purpose of just testing out some new Baobab trees I drew, and also to give a new good look at the Sentinel guardsmen. I'm super happy how it has turned out, despite it being a quickly done scene, and I'm also happy how the "lush" foliage at the bottom turned out, although it isn't perfect.

I think some of you are wondering what those things (hideous space abominations) are on those trees. Those are what I call cattle-bugs (AKA cattle-worms, but less catchy). When threatened, cattle-bugs will quickly crawl away to the nearest tree and ascend to the top. Often passive and running away from fights, they are slow and armored creatures, capable of withstanding several .50 caliber rounds to their sides. Cattle-bugs are not to be messed with however, for underneath their several feeding "trunks" lie a garbage-disposal esque circular mouth, filled with hundreds of teeth comparable to that of a tiger. These teeth are used for chewing into trees full of water and dead carcasses, which they consume for sustenance. Despite their slow speed and mostly passive attitude, cattle-bugs can and will devour foes that pursue or try to pull them off their trees, capable of swiftly bending backwards and dropping on their prey below. Once their sharp feeding mouths latch on and begin sucking away like a leech, there is no hope of getting them off.

Thanks for looking.

Cattle bugs huh?

Excuse me for a second.

That single probably half empty can of RAID isn't going to do anything against one of them, you're going to need at least a single dump truck load to kill one.

Awesome scene. What do the Osthmoorians think about alien life?

BlastWaves In reply to TerranTechnocrat [2016-07-20 00:44:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks DrSerperior! The Osthmoorians honestly don't mind alien life, as long as it isn't hostile or pose a legitimate threat to them, and will mostly leave them alone when possible.

What about intelligent alien life?

Pretty much the same, Osthmoor will attempt to make peace if possible, unlike how in the "olden days" it was probably exterminate everything.

Well, they were taking up space for all those extra nuclear railguns we love to put up so much.

Are those cattle bugs based off the tiny mites that live on our skin that never poop?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BlastWaves In reply to BusterBuizel [2016-07-20 00:28:51 +0000 UTC]

Why yes! Yes they are.

The design is entirely based on an image I found of those lil' microscopic guys. Looks like they're all grown up now.

So if they are called cattle bugs can you eat them?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BlastWaves In reply to BusterBuizel [2016-07-20 12:10:33 +0000 UTC]

Probably, although I can't imagine that meat tasting very good, probably a nauseating mix of crocodile meat and mosquitoes.
