Description
First, sorry for any misspellings. Second, I have MOVED my non-anthro art to a new account: . Still using this one for my anthro art.Not many people enjoy doing real-looking non-animeish eyes these days, I think that's sad... figured I would make this, especially since most eye tutorials are animeish anyways. This is my attempt at a realistic eye. There are many different colors and shapes of course, and ways to give an eye expression. This is just the basics though. First tutorial I ever made, I hesitated to make it cos I really don't have much knowledge about Photoshop. You'll find this to be very simple, of course you don't have to use my technique, actually you can probably do much better! I only use the set PS brushes and I never use layers, but you can change it and do it however you like. Hopefully this will inspire you anyways!!

i love this tutorial its great it explains everything. except i still need to get the hang of step 4.2 my explosion looks weird but its still OK. i kind of made the eye the same as the one in the tutorial just as the first try. here is the finished product of the eye [link]

The eye looks gorgeous, thanks for sharing your technique! What I struggle with the most though is the inner lid and tearduct. I always end up making it too red wich just looks freaky. Do you have any pointers on how to paint particularly that part of the eye?

Usually I just make it the same fleshy color as the rest of the lid but with a hint more pink and shiny-ness

yeah, i agree. anime's great, but hey, not everything you make can have anime-ish eyes, that would be boring...besides, real eyes have more expression...NB..eyes are the windows to the soul

Just wanted to say this is probably /the/ best tutorial I've come across in a long time.
I'm nowhere near your artistic calibre, but just watching how you layer the eye helps a lot. I think I just to draw on a larger resolution...
