Doesn't the guache come off? It's not water-proof (and I figure wear-proof aswell).

At the time, I was thinking gesso but typed guache.

As for the waterproofability of these shoes, I suppose it's alright to get them a little wet if it's wiped off? Mine didn't run, but I wouldn't leave them to dry on their own.

Painted shoes also wouldn't breathe very well.

Gesso's used to prepare surfaces for painting. It's kinda like really cheaply made white paint, and you don't have to buy the expensive stuff for it to work well. The gesso I had was two years old and had come from Walmart. It basically covers up the colors on the original shows and makes the colors you paint with stand out more.

oh, I think I know what you're talking about. I used to use it for painting.
Thanks! ^^

And I found out yesterday that Micheal's has some cute flats for like 7.99, and that's even cheaper than walmart shoes.

A problem I'm encountering is that since the paint is sorta layered on, it tends to crack and might chip. I'll buy a white pair next time, so I wont have to do layers of gesso (gesso, not gouache, i made a typo repeatedly).

Yeah... that happened when I spray painted some ballet shoes for my aunt's wedding. I stepped on a vent and then I noticed the paint flakes flying over my head. o_o

I know a deviant named ... *bri-chan , I think, decorates some canvas vans with copic or prismacolor markers. It doesn't chip, but I don't think anybody's found how to seal the marker. Not to mention it would get dirty easily, and would it be safe to wash those markers? I don't think so. u__u

Thanks! I hope i'm not treading on Bobsmade's toes or stealing his thunder. I'd like it if he got some business from this.
