Description
Here is my tutorial submission for the "Get Crafting Tutorial Contest " run by #StockandResourcesYou can download my pattern for these here
This tutorial does involve you having to purchase some specialty equipment, but I do believe it is an investment that is worth making, even if you just do this a few times for fun.
You will need a jewelers saw and a hand drill, as well as (obviously) some vinyl records or CD's to chop apart. I recommend you just Google for a jewelers saw if you can't find one easily around you. I found a hand drill at my local hardware store. Really, it shouldn't be more than $15 for the saw, and that for the drill as well, if you are willing to look for a bargain. Remember to get extra blades, too. And, if you really have to, you can use a coping saw, but it is heavier and can be a bit more fatiguing to work with.
The bench pin I don't really go into either, but it's basically a piece of 2x4 with a notch cut into it, so you can position the blade in it and still put pressure on either side of the record. I don't think it will be easy to do without one, so definitely beg someone to make one for you if you don't have the skills to do it yourself :3
Other than that, I think I covered everything. Oh! I highly recommend you check to make sure you're not destroying something of great value before you cut into your records. Check online first, please!
I am by no means a jewelery expert, in fact, this was my first experience cutting anything with a jewelers saw. However, I think with a bit of patience, anyone could learn how to do this, and have a lot of fun as well!
Also... I apologize about the quality of the pictures. My cellphone camera is not the best, but I certainly hope they get the point across
As always, please do not repost, redistribute or just plain steal this pattern or tutorial.

Can you use a jigsaw for this? Like, something you use for marquetry work?

You should! It's really not too hard to do, and you can get some really cool results (just don't try to heat the record vinyl - I found out that it's toxic (after inhaling a ton of it -_-))
