Description Not much to say here, I think I said it all in the image. The gesso was cheap, around 7 euros / $9 for one kg...
I also made a video in which you can see how it looks like in the end, with some gold paint on it and you can also see how resistant it is to bending. [link]

Now this looks interesting

Never tried worbla (mainly due to price and the surface), might try it once

This is with wonderflex, but it's basically the same thing....

due to my opinion I like working with worbla more than with wonderflex.

I think worbla is a bit thicker and less soft when warmed up, right? Maybe that's why.

I like the fact that you can smear it more easily than with wonderflex.
Also the fact that it seems to work more smoother to make bendable outfit.
(purely my opinion)

hm, I have to admit I tried to smear it and I was a bit disappointed. Maybe I did it a bit wrong. What do you mean by bendable outfit?

making a curve or wrap it around a curved base.
difficult to write it like this.

It is true that I sometimes have it not that heated, than it harde to smear.
When it is too hot, than it is also not good (in my cause burned fingers and not able to smear it properly).

Oh, I see what you mean. it may be as you say, it seems easier to wrap worbla on a round surface from what I've seen at others...

Spray prime meaning gesso in spray? Does it really retain the flexibility? ;w;

Not gesso in spray, I don't think there's such a thing. It was car primer that I used. SUrprisingly, it didn't crack when I flexed it. Maybe I'll make a video to show it, people don't seem to believe it...

I actually have seen gesso in spray before owo But thanks for the information, I'll see if I can find some car primer then!

I think you can find it in car repair shops or even hardware shops, and it's also pretty cheap...

Gesso is good stuff, but like any paint, it will crack if you bend the piece enough.

ShinjusWorkshop In reply to Celyddon [2013-02-20 10:58:07 +0000 UTC]

True, but I'm not planning on using it on really flexible surfaces, there's latex for that. But moving it a bit, like wonderflex does, that seemed to be ok. I'll make a video to show you guys how it looks like.

Oh, no worries on my account. I use Gesso all the time. I love the stuff.

I'm actually curious if it's gonna crack because I also painted it gold yesterday... if it's all gonna be ok, I'm gonna remake my Athena sooner than expected...

You're redoing Athena? What ended up happening to the original cosplay?

ShinjusWorkshop In reply to Celyddon [2013-02-21 12:10:27 +0000 UTC]

Not happy with the painting (the gold turned dark and ungly) and with the use of craft foam. I want to remake those parts from wonderflex (I already started, actually). Plus, I want to make the wings to move by remote control or at least a hydraulic system and remake the fethers out of something lighter, like fiberglassed fabric. Yes, it will take me a while...

Wow. Best of luck to you! One day I will remake mine, but it will be awhile since I don't have a place to store the pieces right now.
