People have requested an MS Paint tutorial from me, so I'm testing the waters with some quick tips and tricks. Nothing too special. This is from my site.

I like how MS Paint users do anti-aliasing. They load their finished bitmap into a free photoshop knockoff and painstakingly trace everything with the blur tool.

I'm pretty sure MS Paint pixelers (and ANY pixelers, really) do it by hand. With the pencil-tool. Pixel. By. Pixel.

Nice, thank you. If you use Ms Paint often then you have to check out this tool here: [link] You can send pic and screenshot with one click (STRG C) to MS Paint. Check it out, it's free.

I think you forgot one.
You can clone/make your own brush by scribbling or making a shape (on the canvas or white on paint)and select it and press shift and move it around (while holding down shift) its easier to draw or record it than explain it

I have a question: I scanned in a picture of my sketch and uploaded it onto MS paint. I outlined the lineart I want to keep in red (with the tools in paint). Is there any way I can erase every color except the red - there are ton of diffrent greys in the original pencil markings so I would be too tedious to erase them all by hand

BLKMKT-ARCHIVE In reply to Cheeky3037 [2010-12-24 20:51:05 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, MS Paint lacks a "Magic Wand" tool that would work in this situation. If you've already inked your lineart in Paint, you can use a program like Graphics Gale or Paint.NET; they have magic wand tools that can select the red outline only.

MS paint isn't really the type of program that is well suited to inking lineart that you drew on paper. I'd recommend the likes of Paint.NET for that purpose. www.getpaint.net
Alternatively, if you want a program that only uses hard edged lines, try for Graphics Gale. [link]

erpelator [2010-11-04 09:58:02 +0000 UTC]

is this win7 paint or vista?
is there a skin to make the new paint look like the traditional way?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

bearaiin In reply to erpelator [2012-04-17 14:52:57 +0000 UTC]

There's no skin, but you can just download the old version online. It doesn't take any room and is called "Paint XP". You can find it pretty quickly if you google "Paint XP stand-alone download"((make sure it's the softpedia.com link))

This is Vista's paint depicted in the tutorial. Windows 7's paint looks completely different. There's no skin as far as I know, but I've heard that there is a process you can go through to make the actual old Paint program open when you use paint on Vista or 7.

This is great! but is there any chance you know how to do this stuff in a laptop?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BLKMKT-ARCHIVE In reply to Yokoangel94 [2010-11-02 16:57:12 +0000 UTC]

The most I can reccommend is that you use the onscreen keyboard if you have a laptop with no numpad.
