You may have a different version than mine, but this still might help. Check the area where there is a thumbnail of your layer (or layers). Next to the background layer, it should say "raster". If it does, then that means you are already using a raster layer and there is no need to convert it.

thanks for the tutorial. I'm randomly clicking buttons in Paintshop, trying everything, and this tutorial showed a few things very clearly. Now, let's see if I can do the same.

Fantastic tutorial! I have been trying to figure out the best way to do lineart in PSP, but I never could get the right settings for the pen tool. This helped a lot.

Yeah, this would all apply to 8, that's what I use (X3), and I'm fairly certain it also applies to 7. Nice tut, though. Kept simple, and I'm sure it would really help anyone. ^_^

Question: When I start drawing the lineart, it automatically brings up a Raster Layer! What should I do? Is it because I use PSP8?

i've never used psp8 before, but you're using the pen tool and not the brush tool, right? if it dosen't say vector anywhere, but the pentool still works fine, i don't think it'll really make a diff :3 tell me if it dosen't work though, i might've overlooked something

indeed (unless you don't want to, then you can click on the little eye button to make it invisible), you'll have one less layer to worry about
