Description
This is how I color skin in my anime styled drawings.I dunno if this'll help anyone but imma upload it anyway.
I don't feel that verbal today so there's probably tons of typos and such.
I know that many had hoped a drawing tutorial not a coloring tutorial, but asdfgh these things take so much time to make, anatomy tutorials even more, so I can't really promise when I'll get one done.
Coloring Tutorial Part 2:

Thank you soo much for this! I've been trying to learn how to color in skin so it looks...well like skin and not just a flat coloring and this will help so much~

i love your tutorial! however, i have a question, do you do your linework in marker or pen? You're lineart seems a bit different from ur basics tutorial o:

Yes, it's different. > w >
One of the reasons is that I've improved since making the tut.
I use mostly just pen but the trick is that I reduce the density to 60-70% when doing lineart. Looks softer that way.
Then I use marker to add some volume to the lineart afterwards.

Thanks for the tutorial! I haven't been happy the way my digital paintings have been coming out, so I was looking for a new tutorial on coloring skin. Looking forward to trying this.

Wow thank you so much for this! Super inspiring! Btw! Why is it important to merge layers? DOES it make a difference merging it or not or does it just clean it the layer tab a little bit and keeps the space more clean? XD

BloodlineV In reply to LullabyStAr [2013-02-21 17:54:48 +0000 UTC]
I'm glad you liked it useful. :3
Well you can't change the contrast if you haven't merged the layers, but otherwise it doesn't really matter. The layers will merge automatically when you save the picture as something else than sai or photoshop file.

I'm sad cause my SAI doesn't have the Clipping Group option. I noticed it's missing some things- nothing too major. Just wondering if that would change anything in how I go about colouring if I tried this?
This is a fantastic tutorial. I had gone through and saved a few since I'm still rather new to SAI ^^

BloodlineV In reply to VisualKei666 [2013-02-21 17:49:54 +0000 UTC]
Are you sure it's not there? It could just be named differently if you're using a different version of SAI. > 3 >

yea, at least it's not in the spot it should be. I can keep messing with it because I almost couldn't find the Luminosity mode the other day but I did- it was a bunch of jumbled characters from not being correctly translated from the original Japanese program lol

select the area of the base color, and keep that space selected as you go through the parts. c:
If you do that then it'll make a clipping layer effect. ^^

Are you using the default settings on the marker or do you have specific settings you like to put them at?
