Thanks.Β  Umm..I have one more question.Β  If I do a 3rd layer how does it work? Do I drag it under the first layer also or something?

bloominglove In reply to google3y3s [2014-07-09 22:12:25 +0000 UTC]

Just think of it as another layer. You can add an infinite amount of layers. If you add a new layer, it will automatically on top of the other layers (the very front of your drawing). The more you move the layer down the list, the further it is from the front of your drawing. If you put Layer 3 below Layer 1 but above Layer 2, you are can draw underneath Layer 1 and over Layer 2 (given that you are currently on Layer 3). If that makes any sense. lol

lol I think it makes sense.Β  It sounds a bit tough to keep track of all the layers though...Thanks again

bloominglove In reply to google3y3s [2014-07-10 00:11:00 +0000 UTC]

Haha No problem. It's quite simple. You'll get the hang if it. You are also able to rename your layers. You could name them line art, base color, background color, or whatever you like. It might be easier to keep track of which layer is which.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

google3y3s In reply to bloominglove [2014-07-10 00:33:39 +0000 UTC]

yea...i think I'll name them.Β  Are the layers stuff with the line art the same in photoshop? Like in order to color over the line art?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bloominglove In reply to google3y3s [2014-07-10 05:28:13 +0000 UTC]

For the more part Layers are the same, but there are different ways to color that dA muro can't achieve.
There's a free Photoshop-like program, called Krita, that I think is worth a try. I haven't tested it out myself yet, but it's seem pretty awesome.

Here's the tutorial of it if you're interested.

How did you colour in so cleanly? :3 Whenever I use the fill tool Β on lineart it seems to just flood the whole sheet in that colour... O.O

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bloominglove In reply to littleblackcello [2014-06-27 15:46:54 +0000 UTC]

Haha. I don't trust the fill tool. It never works for me either. I just manually color everything in myself.

I need some help! I'm sorry, I'm new at this stuff...I don't get step 2...Do you just re-trace the sketch or is there something to re-trace it FOR you? I'm sorry if I'm bothering you with this... ;-;

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bloominglove In reply to Piercing-Screeches [2014-03-16 23:07:04 +0000 UTC]

Not a bother at all. You will have to retrace your scanned drawing so that it is on a separate layer from your original. That way it is on a transparent layer and you can edit it without messing with your sketch.

Fl4ndreSc4rl3t In reply to ??? [2014-02-23 22:26:40 +0000 UTC]

question: is it possible to draw UNDER layers?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bloominglove In reply to Fl4ndreSc4rl3t [2014-02-24 02:52:31 +0000 UTC]

Why, yes, it is possible.

Here is something I posted earlier with some tweaks.

On the right hand side, close to the bottom, you'll see a plus sign (+).
Click and it'll add a new layer. The minus sign (-) will delete the layer that you are currently on.
At this point, the only layers you should have are the Background layer, Layer 1, and Layer 2.
If your art is on layer 1, click and drag layer 2 down under layer 1.
You can then draw under layer 1 when you are on layer 2.

If you are starting anew, then add a new layer, draw your line art on layer 2 and your coloring should be on layer 1 without moving anything.
Try to avoid drawing anything on the Background layer. That layer is just a white background and is not transparent like the other layers.

Hope this helps! Happy drawing!

How do you use the lasso tool?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bloominglove In reply to Applewinkyface [2014-01-13 02:43:38 +0000 UTC]

Once you've got the lasso tool, you can click and drag the tool around the object that you want selected.
Release the left click button to select the object and to deselect it just click somewhere else with the select tool still at hand.
To move your selected object around, choose the "move" tool, click and drag the selected object to wherever you want. You can also deselect the object by going into the edit tab and click "Deselect" or you can press Ctrl+D.

Hope this helps.

I need a bit of help, (I'm totes new. XD ) whenever I try to colour, the colour goes over the lineart. When I watch others colour, the color is kind of "underneath" the lineart. What am I doing wrong? oAo

Lovely art, BTW. c:

Haha No problem. We all have to start somewhere.

The magic of Layers~! lol

At this point, the only layers you should have are the Background layer, Layer 1, and Layer 2.
If your lineart is on layer 1, click and drag layer 2 down under layer 1.
You can then color on layer 2.

If you are starting anew, then add a new layer, draw your line art on layer 2 and your coloring should be on layer 1 without moving anything.
Try to avoid drawing anything on the Background layer. That layer is just a white background and is not transparent like the other layers.

Hope this helps! Happy drawing!

Every time I import, the image is too large, but when I resize it, parts get cut off. Help?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bloominglove In reply to MirandNack [2014-01-05 01:00:42 +0000 UTC]

Let's see if this work:

1. Import image.
2. After it finished loading, click your desired image.
3. Change "Original Size" to "Custom"
4. Use the scales to change the size to a smaller size.

Hope that helps. If you still have trouble, send a screenshot so that I can give you more details information.
