Excellent tutorial! Just a quick question- have you uploaded an image and been unable to draw on any layer of it with any brush? I'm having an issue with that right nowΒ Β If you have any tips on that, I would appreciate it! Thanks! Again, great work!Β Β

Do you have any tips on how to keep a steady hand when drawing on dA muro?
π: 0 β©: 1
bloominglove In reply to THATissoWIERD [2013-10-25 02:04:32 +0000 UTC]
Confidence, practice, and trying to draw lines a bit faster. Drawing slowly will give you wobbly lines.
If your line isn't where you want it to be then just undo it and try again.
Hope that helps.

Thank you. I can't really draw with a mouse because I am left handed, so I had toΒ

A mouse? If you're interested in drawing digital art I would recommend you to take a look at some cheap drawing tablets.
It's much easier to draw with than a mouse.

Ohhhhhh I have always wondered how everyone's pictures looked so effortlessly drawn with no squiggly lines or anything.Β

Haha. Well, you gotta find out about it somewhere. lol
But, your drawing on muro is pretty good with just a mouse.

I have a question (sorry I'm new here and am just starting to try out digital art c: for the second step, do you outline it by hand (like with the mouse and everything), or is there some tool you can use to just outline the whole piece? Yeah, that's probably a stupid question, but I have no clue what I'm doing. Lol.

It's not a silly questions at all.
For every artist that wants to start drawing digital art, having a drawing tablet is a basically a must!
Using a mouse would be really hard and a touch pad is near impossible.
There are many tablets to choose from so be sure to check the reviews on the one that you want.
Wacom is the most popular brand out there. But, not all their products are cheap.
So I recommend that you start cheap and see how you like it before buying an expensive one.
Hope this helps you!

I need help how do you color in the basic color so well when in the new layer they don't have any of the lines that you've drawn, when I go to use fill It fills in the whole page
π: 0 β©: 1
bloominglove In reply to Pr0crastronaut [2013-09-06 22:04:19 +0000 UTC]
The opacity of the brush should be very low and it just take repetitive strokes to get the color darker.
As for the fill tool. If you want to fill in a part I think it's better that you color it in instead of using the fill tool. If you do want to use the fill tool then you've have to use the same layer that has your lines on it.
Hope this helps.

thanks, also what are good places to put the highlights on and how do you do it so that it doesn't look like a bird pooped on your character?

hahaha Visualize where you really want your light source to come from.
Here's an example:
bloominglove.deviantart.com/arβ¦
There are 2 main light sources. The white one in front and the orange one coming from behind.
I know it's MLP... (Sorry...)

WOW, you're great.... but I want to ask : I can't import my picture, because I can't use buttom 'I agree'. What can I do?
π: 0 β©: 1
bloominglove In reply to shinakazami1 [2013-07-18 06:09:05 +0000 UTC]
Hmm... This is majorly out of date. lol
-But to import a picture you'll have to go to the File tab and click "Import image as layer"
-From there, you'll have to upload your image to Sta.sh (the thing that pops up on the right)
-After you've uploaded your file just click on your picture to bring it up as a new layer. This is where you can change to size and angle to fit your canvas.
