Welcome to the first annual Amalgam Advent!

Hyros in this advent are either true Amalgams or artificial Amalgams.

What's the difference?

True Amalgams are all created in Plant #3, one of the original creation plants built just before the comet hit Vythrosa and wiped out the Hyrrothians. A particularly large chunk of debris crashed just above The Third Plant and caused a rather hefty amount of damage to the facility. The AI within the plant was damaged and when the clock hit 10,000 years, the Procedural Creation programming did not boot up properly. Normally, DNA Sequences are generated randomly pulling from a very small, select genome to create normal Hyros. Plant #3, after the damage had been done to its computers, now had access to an excessively large genome. DNA Sequencing that belonged to the native fauna and flora from Vythrosa was installed for recreation in the event those were wiped out as well. It can pull genes from a variety of these species, resulting in abnormal and exotic Hyros.

However, with such a variety of traits comes the issue of incompatibility. Many Amalgam DNA Sequences that are generated do not make sense and cannot be injected without turning the blank Hyro into a disgusting pile of flesh and organs. Plant #3 is filled with decaying bodies that never had a chance to survive. The Amalgams that are lucky enough to be injected with a DNA Sequence that makes sense are often confused and panicked. They gain consciousness in a least desirable place, faced with the stench and sight of horrific jumbles of flesh and organs, some of which that have been decaying for years. Without any Lifelines there to guide them and teach them the basics of life, many Amalgams flee the plant to the world above and live a primitive life. They often do not know how to read or communicate and focus primarily on survival. However, it's not particularly uncommon to see Amalgams that have learned advanced survivability, such as building shelter or cooking food.

Normal Hyros occasionally run into or seek out Amalgams to try and aid them in understanding who they are and where they're at. Amalgams are not impaired and are just as capable as normal Hyros to learn and adapt. Hyros do not think differently of Amalgams generally, though they are cautious in case they are violent. Amalgams are typically timid and defensive so it's best to keep your distance unless the Amalgam does not show signs of aggression. Regardless, Hyros treat Amalgams the same as other Hyros. They reluctantly kill Amalgams that are beyond help and prove to be too dangerous to let live. Afterlife ceremonies are held for those Amalgams, to bereave the soul who didn't get a chance to experience a life not filled with fear.

Like normal Hyros, Amalgams will cease to exist at exactly 200 years. Amalgams not familiar with how the plants or their life works tragically end there. Amalgams can clone themselves and transfer their knowledge to live again just as normal Hyros can, but those who are not taught this do not know. Therefore, their DNA Sequence is decommissioned and can never be recreated again.

Artificial Amalgams (Mega Mutants)

Artificial Amalgams are not created in Plant #3. They are born as normal Hyros from any of the plants, original or second wave. They may already be born with mutations or they may have accumulated them via updating their DNA Sequence. Whatever the case is, they all share one thing in common: mutated mutations. Artificial Amalgams are created by applying or consuming a Toxic Concoction; a rare substance created by taking some of the runoff from The Third Plant and combining it with select discarded flesh harvested from inside the plant. It is difficult to create, thus highly valuable. It is also illegal to create and possess. When applied topically or consumed, it will affect any abnormalities within the Hyro's DNA Sequence; the mutations. It will pick one abnormality if the Hyro has multiple mutations and essentially mutate it again; thus earning the Hyros affected the nickname, "Mega Mutants." Application of a Toxic Concoction results in extreme variations of common mutations, such as transforming the small wings of a Hyro into large wings. It affects most mutations but some are so minor they do not read as abnormalities.

Imbued with DNA from a gelatinous poisonous plant, this aggressive Hyro has learned to live with its cursed touch. When excited at all, the Hyro releases a strong neurotoxin into its firm but gelatinous upper body, turning it a vibrant green hue. The nature of the gelatinous substance this Hyro is partially made up of allows it to morph its arms into various shapes; its favorite form is a pair of sickles it uses to strike enemies. This Hyro wasn't always aggressive, but before it learned how to control its toxins, it had accidentally killed numerous friends. It grew afraid of connection in fear of relaxing too much and accidentally killing those it cared for; so, it vowed to never get close to anyone ever again, and kills all who try.

Special Ability
Sickening Sickles: Releases a deadly neurotoxin into its gelatinous arms, which can also shift into various shapes, most commonly a pair of sickles.

This design comes with 3 color version of 1 fullbody, 1 halfbody, (both shaded/ unshaded) and a chibi!
