Split Hyros are another rare subtype. These Hyros are easily recognized by their very different halves. Despite their appearance, Split Hyros are still just one being with one mind.

This trait occurs when there is a critical error in the sequencing stage of Hyro production. When a Hyro is produced, two portwires are placed into the chest codepods; one in the left, and one in the right. Sometimes, however, two DNA Sequences get input, instead of just one. One DNA Sequence is uploaded through the left portwire, and another is uploaded through the right portwire. This results in both sides of the Hyro generating differently than the other. It is a harmless malfunction for the Hyro, though things may be difficult to adjust to such as hearing. One ear may be way better at hearing than the other due to the difference in shape and size.

Split Hyros cannot be reproduced like mutations can be due to the critical error during the original sequencing. This trait only occurs when the computer system glitches, which cannot be controlled. When at the end of their lifespan, a Split Hyro will need to make a decision to decide which side they like more since the two different DNA Sequences cannot be manually input.
