I agree with and when saying this is the best tutorial I've seen for creating a watercolor effect on SAI. I'm still not use to SAI so I've never experimented with the watercolor aspect, this explains and shows a great deal of what to expect and experiment with when working this method. I use watercolors to a certain extent but I might prefer this over the real thing to be honest.

Great tutorial you have here !

amberisrad In reply to Krytzl [2017-07-04 22:29:09 +0000 UTC]

yes! ok this is gonna have some screenshots so it's easier to explain :0

what you do first, is download all of this stuff from the link in the description prntscr.com/frp2sd (link: drive.google.com/file/d/0B9Sme… )

while that's downloading, find the folder that your Paint Tool Sai is in. if you have a shortcut for it on your desktop you can just click "open file location" (i think) it should look something like this: prntscr.com/frp3q7
now, press the back button in your library prntscr.com/frp8ek
and then you'll be able to see the folder in it's entirety prntscr.com/frp8l5

now what you want to do is copy the ENTIRE FOLDER and paste it (somewhere, it doesn't really matter as long as you know where it is) in case editing it breaks the original sai, and if it does, you have a backup of your original sai and you won't have to redownload it. prntscr.com/frp4w2

now, after your download is finished, click on your original sai folder and open your download in WINRAR or some other program that is similar that can open/extract .zip files. prntscr.com/frp5ug

now, delete all of these folders/files in the original sai folder: papertex, elemap, brushtex, blot map, papertex.conf, New Canvas.jpg (i didnt have this in my original sai but just in case you do, delete it), brushtex.conf, brushform.conf

now, go to winrar and extract alll the files in the download to your original sai file. prntscr.com/frp70i
after the extracting is done, close winrar, close the sai folder, and if your sai program is open, close that too.

reopen sai and it should be there!

I feel like something is wrong with my SAI because I downloaded those files and when I open the SAI file locator it doesn't say  "This PC>Downloads>Sai 1.1.0> + Brushes and so there is no back button. Any thoughts? I'm so confused ugh.

    Thank you!

nothing's wrong with it, it's probably just stored somewhere else under a different name!
i don't know where it could be, but i found this post on a forum sai.detstwo.com/forum/index.ph…
i'd try those 2 suggestions and see if you can find it
